We’re looking for an experienced Sr. Staff Engineer to join our ZPA team. This role is hybrid and based in our San Jose, CA office three days a week. Reporting to the Manager, Software Engineering, you will be responsible for:

Requirements

  • 6+ years of experience in C/C++ programming in a distributed and enterprise-scale environment
  • Experience with networking protocols and traffic management technologies (e.g., TCP/IP, HTTP/HTTPS, SSL/TLS, QUIC)
  • Experience diagnosing and resolving network performance issues (latency/packet loss), including analysis using traffic tools
  • Strong knowledge in one or more of the cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or GCP
  • Familiarity with Kubernetes components and containerization technologies such as Docker or Podman

Nice To Haves

  • Working experience in Rust programming language
  • Familiarity with Hashicorp Packer for building and customizing VM images for cloud for AWS, Azure, GCP, or VMware ESX
  • Experience proposing and delivering enhancements to improve system reliability, scalability, and network efficiency

Responsibilities

  • Working on cutting-edge Zero Trust technologies, developing and delivering solutions that ensure fast, reliable, and secure access to business-critical apps
  • Designing and developing new architectures as well as extending and optimizing existing throughput-critical forwarding systems and pipelines that guarantee high-speed transit with imperceptible latency
  • Collaborating across teams (product, operations, etc.) to design, implement, deploy, and monitor systems in production and at scale
  • Proactively identifying and resolving hotspots to ensure smooth performance as the user base grows and identifying paths towards operational improvements and excellence
