Northrop Grumman Space Systems – Launch and Missile Defense Systems has an exciting career opportunity for a Sr. Staff Systems Engineer to support the Systems Engineering & Integration Team (SE&IT) program. Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in a STEM discipline from an accredited university and 14 years of related experience, or a Master's Degree and 12 years of related experience, or 10 years of related experience with a PhD.
  • Technical background in missile defense radar design, operations, and signal processing, specifically in target discrimination.
  • Understanding of Missile Defense System sensors, command and control, and effector systems.
  • Skills in modeling and simulation of discrimination phenomenology, techniques, processing, and decision logic.
  • Ability to generate data, analyze results, and provide insights to system or concept performance.
  • Experience in conducting system concept trade studies, requirements analysis, feasibility analysis, and system performance measures of effective analysis.
  • Good communication skills and experience leading a team of engineers.

Nice To Haves

  • Electro-optical/infrared (EO/IR) discrimination background.
  • Element-level experience with Analysis, Assessment, or Verification.
  • Familiarity with MDS Performance Tier 1 Metrics.
  • Experience with modeling and simulation of exoatmospheric and endoatmospheric target phenomenology.
  • Experience with discrimination analysis and fusion.

Responsibilities

  • Support the SE&IT program as a technical lead on the Integrated Discrimination Team (IDT).
  • Serve as the SE&I Deputy Chief Engineer specializing in Countermeasure Mitigation and Discrimination (CM&D).
  • Provide technical oversight and integration of SE&I Team electromagnetic warfare (EW) and discrimination related products.
  • Participate in MDA design reviews, test reviews, and technical interchange meetings.
  • Engage with SE&I Team Industry partners to align MDA capability pipeline development with Industry strategic investments.
  • Support the planning and execution of CM&D-related SE&I Team tasks.
  • Ensure System Design products are compatible with future inclusion of CM&D concepts in the MDS baseline.
