About The Position

As a Senior Staff Android Engineer for PayPal Checkout, you will provide technical leadership for your development team and lead in all phases of the SDLC. Your day to day will involve leading native Android app development by converting ideas, designs, and requirements into concrete, stable production builds. You will provide frameworks, interfaces, and services that can be extended and reused for future requirements, enforce clean code and excellent coding practices by conducting thoughtful code reviews, and work with product, project, and engineering teams to deliver products on schedule that solve problems and delight users. Additionally, you will collaborate with Engineering and QA to resolve bugs and develop and communicate technical processes, standards, and best practices to the team.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 12 years of relevant work experience and a Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience
  • 8+ years of experience developing native Android applications in Java and Kotlin
  • Expertise in Android UI design principles, patterns, and best practices
  • Experience connecting Android applications to RESTful and GraphQL APIs
  • Experience with animation, and implementing user interface designs
  • Skilled at writing Unit and Automation tests
  • Knowledge of design patterns such as MVC and MVVM
  • Knowledge of multi-threaded, asynchronous code
  • Familiarity with RESTful APIs to connect Android applications to backend services
  • Experience with a version control system
