This role supports the month-end close, financial reporting, technical accounting, and internal control activities across ACCO’s diverse portfolio of school, office, and consumer products. Operating with a high degree of independence, the Sr. Staff Accountant handles complex accounting areas, collaborates with manufacturing and commercial teams, and ensures strong financial stewardship aligned with ACCO Brands’ values of integrity, accountability, and continuous improvement.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting required; CPA or CPA-track strongly preferred.
  • 5–7 years of relevant accounting experience.
  • Strong technical accounting knowledge with a high attention to detail.
  • Experience with large ERP systems and financial reporting tools (SAP experience preferred).
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a dynamic, deadline-driven environment

Responsibilities

  • Perform and review month-end close activities for North America, including journal entries, accruals, account reconciliations, and supporting schedules.
  • Ensure compliance with US GAAP and ACCO Brands’ global accounting policies.
  • Prepare and analyze balance sheet results, identifying key drivers and communicating insights to finance leadership.
  • Support local and global partners.
  • Research accounting guidance and partner with Corporate Accounting to ensure proper treatment of complex or unusual transactions (e.g., rebates and fixed assets).
  • Maintain strong internal controls and support SOX compliance across North America operations.
  • Assist with internal and external audits, ensuring accuracy and completeness of schedules and documentation.
  • Collaborate closely with Supply Chain, Operations, Commercial Finance, and Corporate teams to ensure accurate financial information.
  • Translate accounting concepts into business-friendly language for non-finance partners.
  • Identify and implement process improvements to enhance accuracy, efficiency, and standardization across North America accounting activities.
  • Support ERP enhancements, automation initiatives, and digital tools used across ACCO Brands’ finance organization.
  • Document and refine SOPs to support consistent execution and knowledge sharing.
  • Lead assigned accounting areas (such as inventory, leases, fixed assets, or promotional programs), ensuring accuracy and continuous improvement.
  • Contribute to a collaborative, high-performance team environment consistent with ACCO Brands’ culture.
