To administer, maintain, and optimize Microsoft SQL Server databases across the enterprise. This role ensures the high availability, performance, and security of SQL environments. Responsibilities include installation and configuration, backup and recovery, performance tuning, and support for development and infrastructure teams. The DBA will also contribute to strategic planning and provide expert-level troubleshooting and consultation. Viewed as a subject matter expert in SQL Server technologies.

  • Install, configure, and maintain SQL Server instances and databases, including Azure SQL Database.
  • Monitor database performance and implement tuning strategies.
  • Design and implement backup, recovery, and high availability solutions.
  • Ensure database security through access controls and auditing.
  • Collaborate with development teams to optimize queries and schema design.
  • Create and maintain documentation for database environments.
  • Perform capacity planning, forecast storage needs, and work to eliminate older versions of SQL Server.
  • Manage disaster recovery planning and testing for critical databases.
  • Provide Tier 3 support for database-related incidents.
  • Stay current with SQL Server features and best practices.
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field (or equivalent experience).
  • 5+ years of hands-on experience with Microsoft SQL Server.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft SQL Server (2016 and newer).
  • Experience with SQL Server Management Studio (SSMS).
  • Knowledge of native backup and recovery tools.
  • Familiarity with Always On Availability Groups and replication.
  • Strong understanding of T-SQL and scripting (e.g., PowerShell).
  • Experience with monitoring tools (e.g., SentryOne, SolarWinds, SQL Monitor).
