About The Position

L3Harris’ Communication Systems segment is currently seeking a Sr. Specialist, Software Engineer to join our team. This position will be based at our Rochester, NY facility and offers a 9/80 work schedule. The Sr. Specialist, Software Engineer, designs, develops and extensively tests complex engineering solutions for advanced tactical radio operating system and waveform software. This position will require participation in all phases of the software development life cycle, while operating independently and guiding junior engineers.

Requirements

  • Proficient with embedded C/C++, object-oriented design, real-time, multi-threaded programming
  • Experience with real-time operating systems (e.g. VxWorks RTOS, Linux, QNX)
  • Ability to quickly analyze and understand large and complex existing software systems
  • Ability to develop software test procedures, software programs, and related documentation
  • Ability to identify, track, and repair software defects
  • Ability to work effectively in a multi-disciplinary team environment
  • Ability to clearly and succinctly convey information and ideas
  • Must be able to obtain a US security clearance
  • Candidates must be able to obtain a US security clearance
  • Bachelor’s Degree and minimum 6 years of prior relevant experience. Graduate Degree and a minimum of 4 years of prior related experience. In lieu of a degree, minimum of 10 years of prior related experience.

  • Experience with continuous integration (e.g. Jenkins)
  • Experience with the Agile methodology
  • Experience with wireless networking software system design and development
  • Familiarity with RF concepts and technology
