About The Position

This Lead Mechanical Engineer will play a lead technical role and will actively participate in and often lead design reviews, providing expert guidance. Using 3D CAD and analysis tools, this individual will develop and validate designs while serving as a program technical lead, owning technical execution, schedule adherence, and decision-making with limited oversight. This role is ideal for someone with prior program leadership experience, a strong production mindset, and the ability to autonomously drive technical excellence across complex programs.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering with a minimum of 6 years of prior relevant experience. Graduate degree with 4 years of prior relevant experience.
  • Experience with SiemensNX and/or Creo, and TeamCenter.
  • Experience with analysis tools such as Ansys, MathCAD, and CFDesign for structural, thermal, and vibration analysis.
  • Experience with GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing).
  • Experience transitioning designs from prototype to production, including support for Low-Rate Initial Production (LRIP).
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
  • Familiarity with AutoCAD, PADs, LabVIEW, and Xilinx.

Responsibilities

  • Perform and document structural and analysis utilizing classical techniques and finite element analysis to establish the validity of proposed designs.
  • Perform kinematic and dynamic analysis of mechanisms.
  • Perform modal shock and vibration analysis.
  • Conducts thermal analysis, flow analysis, and vibration analysis.
  • Work with other mechanical designers and other engineers to optimize designs for structural and thermal performance.
  • Participate in design reviews to demonstrate that design meets all specification and customer requirements.
  • Support the creation of technical performance specifications and assist Purchasing Dept. with procurement of items as necessary.
  • Adhere to budget and schedule commitments.
  • Prepare and review design documentation in accordance with contract requirements and/or internal standards.
  • Perform estimates for manpower and other resources factors for analysis-related tasks.
  • Prepare and present internal and external design reviews, Preliminary Design Review and Critical Design Review activities to demonstrate the design meets all specifications and customer requirements.
  • Critically examine a new or existing design to verify that design principles have been correctly applied.
  • Develop working designs, computer solid models, design layouts and drawings using MCAD/MCAE tools.
  • Ensure quality through adherence to the Quality Systems Manual, applicable Standard Work Instructions and other standards invoked internally or contractually.
  • Work in a typical office environment with exposure to light manufacturing environment and laboratory environment. Use of safety equipment (PPE) is required in designated areas.
  • Perform classical hand calculations and interpret convergence data to validate finite element analysis (FEA) results.
  • Travel domestically and internationally as needed (~10%).
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a US Security Secret Clearance.
