About The Position

Aerojet Rocketdyne, an L3Harris Technologies Company, is seeking a Sr. Specialist Materials and Process Engineer (Chemistry lab) to join our growing facility in Camden, Arkansas. Senior professional managing complex processes with general oversight. Performs a variety of duties in the mechanical and chemistry areas of the Camden Materials and Process Engineering laboratory. Constructs, troubleshoots, calibrates, adjusts, tests, diagnoses, and maintains laboratory test instrumentation. Works from specifications, operating manuals, engineering drawings and written material test instructions. Works with complex test instrumentation and computer systems. Operates related test instrumentation, conducts routine and complex quality conformance testing, and reports test data in prescribed formats. Operates as a bench laboratory chemist conducting routine and non-routine analyses.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree and minimum 6 years of prior relevant engineering experience.
• Graduate Degree and a minimum of 4 years of prior related engineering experience.
• In lieu of a degree, minimum of 10 years of prior related engineering experience.

Nice To Haves

• Knowledge of testing explosives and energetic materials a plus.
• Knowledge of laboratory instrumentation.
• Knowledge of laboratory instrumentation troubleshooting.

Responsibilities

• Handle, process, and mix chemicals in a laboratory setting.
• Work with lab instrumentation such as FTIR, Instrons, DSC, Microtrac, titrators, & HPLC.
• Sample and test raw materials, propellants, liners, and explosive mixes.
• Prepare and collect raw test data.
• Perform complex mathematical calculations.
• Clean, assemble and dismantle test hardware, test equipment, and test apparatus.
• Perform laboratory support activities such as instrument calibration, cleaning, inventory, inspections, and material handling.
• Generate laboratory test reports, retain test data, and disseminate test reports.
• Generate, review, modify, and submit lab documentation.
