About The Position

The Maritime Sector is looking for a HR Business Partner to support multiple functional discipline teams and will provide support for a matrixed, geographically dispersed population across the U.S. In this role you will drive business results by understanding the client area’s strategic plans and initiatives to provide value added recommendations. You will partner with all levels of leadership from front-line supervisors to senior leaders, as well as the overall employee population. This onsite role will report to the Functional HR Director. The selected candidate will be instrumental in ensuring effective workforce utilization to achieve organizational goals and will analyze workforce data to identify trends and forecast staffing needs. You will also ensure compliance and provide guidance and support to management on employee relations issues and will develop and implement innovative strategies to attract top talent and retain high-performing employees.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree and minimum 6 years of prior relevant experience.
  • Graduate Degree and a minimum of 4 years of prior related experience.
  • In lieu of a degree, minimum of 10 years of prior related experience.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s degree in human resources or related business area.
  • HR generalist experience supporting various levels within the organization.
  • Experience driving HR strategy in the following areas: performance management, employee engagement, retention, staffing, compensation, engagement, leadership coaching and development and succession planning.
  • Employee relations and investigation experience.
  • Ability to analyze and 'tell a story' with data.
  • Strong attention to quality, process detail and the use of standard Microsoft office tools including Excel (VLOOKUP’s and pivot tables).
  • General aptitude for HRIS tools such as PeopleSoft, Oracle TM Suite.
  • Ability to work as a contributing member of a team as well as operate independently.
  • Proven ability to prioritize tasks and to organize workload to assure that short timelines are met given frequent interruptions.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, highly adaptable and able to thrive in a fast-paced dynamic, collaborative environment.
  • Strong business and HR acumen, including strong problem-solving skills, critical thinking, and self-initiative - has a track record on delivering commitments.
  • Results oriented, proactive and resourceful.
  • Ability to influence, coach and consult with all levels of the organization in a positive and effective manner.
  • High level of integrity; ability to maintain confidentiality.
  • Prior experience with matrix organizations and multi-site HR leadership preferable.

Responsibilities

  • Build and maintain effective working relations with management and employees to provide advice and counsel to both on employee-related and organizational matters.
  • Identify and diagnose issues proactively and develop, recommend, and implement root cause solutions that enhance employee engagement/experience and business results in a timely manner.
  • Partner with client groups to build and execute on talent actions to meet overall business strategy, objectives and goals.
  • Analyze data and metrics to support recommendations to the leadership team for continuous improvement.
  • Participate and/or lead projects and special initiatives within and outside the HR function as assigned.
