We are hiring immediately for a Senior Spacecraft Systems Engineer Analyst to join our team in Westminster, CO. This position qualifies for a hybrid schedule with two days from home and three days in the office. Day In the Life: We seek a well-rounded spacecraft systems analyst to join our Spacecraft Systems Engineering group. As part of the team, you lead the development cycle of earth imaging space programs. Starting from customer needs and our industry-leading heritage, you will architect a system, derive spacecraft requirements and work with bus and payload suppliers to make that vision a reality. Along the way you will interface with in-house imagery, ground systems, and operation experts as well as external suppliers and customers. Responsibilities

  • Lead the development cycle of earth imaging space programs.
  • Architect a system based on customer needs and industry heritage.
  • Derive spacecraft requirements.
  • Work with bus and payload suppliers.
  • Interface with in-house imagery, ground systems, and operation experts.
  • Collaborate with external suppliers and customers.

Requirements

  • A Bachelor’s degree in engineering, physics, or related field of study.
  • 5-10 years of experience with space systems engineering and analysis.
  • U.S. citizenship and willingness/ability to obtain a U.S. Government security clearance at the TS/SCI level.
  • Understanding of Low Earth Orbit (LEO) space environments and their impacts on system performance.
  • Experience using STK for orbit analysis and front-end system design.
  • Space systems analysis experience in multiple categories: structural, thermal, guidance/navigation/control, electrical, radiation and/or reliability.
  • Experience building analytical models, running them to solve problems and explore trade spaces, and correlating them to real-world test data.

Nice-to-haves

  • Master or Doctorate in a relevant field.
  • Direct experience on at least one earth observation space program.
  • Specific structural analysis experience: CAD software, building and running satellite and launch stack structural models, profile notching, and reviewing unit and spacecraft-level acoustic, random/sine vibration and shock tests data.
  • Thermal Analysis experience: Building/tuning thermal models for high-stability space-based systems, reviewing satellite-level test results and design optimization.
  • Guidance/Navigation/Controls Analysis experience: Using stability, agility, filters, propagators and controls analysis tools to estimate and tune system performance.
  • Electrical Analysis experience: Understanding of typical electrical engineering design practices, interface compatibility and verification and electrical worst-case analysis.
  • Radiation Analysis experience: understanding of typical space radiation best practices, testing and analysis artifacts, experience qualifying parts and designing mitigations for Single Event Effects (SEE).
  • A willingness to mentor junior engineers, sharing expertise and supporting team growth, advancement and succession.
  • Active TS/SCI clearance.
