About The Position
As a Sr. Sourcing Specialist for the Starlink program at SpaceX, you will play a crucial role in supporting the Redmond, WA production facility, which is at the forefront of providing reliable internet globally through the Starlink constellation. This position is integral to the Starlink Supply Chain Department, which is responsible for executing large-scale projects that significantly impact the program's bottom line. Your responsibilities will encompass various functions, including procurement, planning and fulfillment, supplier development and quality, logistics, inventory management, negotiation of supplier contracts and pricing, and developing commodity strategies. In this high-profile, cross-functional role, you will collaborate closely with engineering and manufacturing departments to implement effective and innovative supply chain strategies that meet production goals. The sourcing specialists at SpaceX have the unique opportunity to witness their assemblies come to life daily, making this position both dynamic and rewarding. You will be tasked with placing purchase orders, resolving blocked invoices, forecasting demand, managing supply signals, and tracking high-risk components and supplier performance. Your ability to communicate effectively with vendors and senior leadership will be essential in influencing decisions and ensuring the smooth operation of the supply chain. Additionally, you will interpret engineering drawings and BOMs, create sourcing strategies for mechanical custom and COTS hardware, and develop a preferred supplier network to minimize costs and lead times. Your role will also involve managing outsource fabrication projects, performing onsite vendor capability reviews, and authoring contract documents in collaboration with the legal department. You will be responsible for ensuring that suppliers meet their contractual obligations while applying creativity and sound business reasoning to address business needs.
