This position is a rare opportunity… an opening on one of Lockheed Martin’s most successful programs! Come join the MARK IV-B team! Looking for a software engineer with prior knowledge of the Europeans MetOp Second generation variant of weather satellites. This satellite has two variants A and B. Software engineer needs experience creating infrastructure and DB for both variants. This engineering position is responsible for all software (currently C++) related to the conversion of the weather satellite data streams to usable data. Older satellite data is bitstreams to calibrated, and earth registered data sets and is in maintenance mode. The newer data sets are mostly NETCDF files and at least partially registered. Satellite information is obtained from the manufacture specifications and converted to a normalized global data set. This position is also responsible for the mathematics behind conversion of the data channels to create products (multiple channel and ancillary data used).

Requirements

  • Professional experience working with Software Language Required: C++, SQL, Windows
  • Able to obtain and maintain a Secret Clearance
  • MARK IV-B experience
  • US Citizenship required with the ability to obtain and maintain a Secret Clearance

Nice To Haves

  • Desired Professional experience working with C#
  • Experience with Windows OS and its internals
  • Experience with Visual Studio
  • Ability to reframe the issue to find a solution when roadblocks arise
