Your Opportunity: Venture Solutions, a Taylor Corporation company, is seeking a highly experienced Senior Software Developer with a strong background in mainframe technologies. The ideal candidate will have 10+ years of hands-on experience working with COBOL, VSAM, and related mainframe tools. Expertise in DOS/VSE environments is preferred, and familiarity with Quickjob is a plus. Candidates with proven experience in mainframe conversion and modernization projects will be highly valued. This role offers an opportunity to leverage your deep technical skills in a dynamic, collaborative environment while contributing to critical enterprise initiatives. This location adheres to the Federal Information Security Management Act (FISMA). All employees must undergo a federal background check, which requires U.S. citizenship.

Requirements

  • 10+ years mainframe experience utilizing COBOL, VSAM and other mainframe tools
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or related area
  • Ability to handle and keep track of a multitude of assignments at one time
  • Attention to detail, excellent organization skills and a sense of urgency
  • Solid analytical, critical-thinking, and problem-solving skills
  • Seeking self-starter with unyielding work ethic and motivation to learn a competitive business.

  • Good interpersonal skills
  • Proactive Team Mentality

Nice To Haves

  • Print and mail experience
  • Experience in DOS/VSE environment; Quickjob a plus
  • Mainframe conversion experience highly desirable

Responsibilities

  • Learn and maintain legacy systems
  • Develop and support custom applications
  • Coding fixes and new software development
  • Familiarity with one or more programming languages
  • Familiarity with standard development techniques (SDLC, OOD)
