About The Position

The Manager, Software Developer (Blaze) will manage daybreak and blaze applications focused on supporting loan and lease originations including software projects, infrastructure projects, software packages and interfaces. This role will partner with business units to understand their business plans and requirements and work with them to identify how technology can enhance their business processes. Serve as a liaison between IT and business, PMO and vendor teams. As the subject matter expert on IT and business processes the Manager, Software Developer will provide guidance on best practices considering impact of changes from a global business perspective. Lead IT and vendor teams in delivery of corporate initiatives, other project and system change requests.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, Technology, or related field desired
  • Minimum 8 years of FICO Blaze development experience and successfully leading large scale Enterprise projects.
  • Strong experience in designing and maintaining complex rulesets and design structures.
  • Experience in any loan origination applications.
  • Experience in Java or any other programming languages.
  • Experience with implementing scorecards and risk models.
  • Experience in production support/maintenance for a large enterprise application.
  • Excellent leadership skills
  • Strong problem solving and analytical skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills to effectively interact with business stakeholders, vendors, and technical teams.
  • Strong programming language and database experience.
  • Proven track record of successfully participating in all aspects of a software development project.
  • Good understanding of SQL.
  • Experience in Tibco or any other middleware tools.
  • Java / J2ee development experience.
  • Experience in performance tuning and optimization of rule engines.
  • Familiarity with cloud-based deployment and microservices architecture.
  • Experience with Web logic or similar application server.
  • Experience with Jenkins or similar CI tools.

  • Financial services and/or automotive industry experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Lead development of corporate initiatives, front office projects, enhancements and change requests. Work closely with PMO, business, and vendor partners and internal and HQ IT team members to ensure projects are estimated and delivered on schedule.
  • Develop business rules and decision management solutions using FICO Blaze Advisor.
  • Ensure that development stays on track and resolve issues/defects in a timely manner.
  • Coordinate with offshore developers and manage work assignments.
  • Ensuring successful Operations Support & Project delivery of Daybreak (loan origination system) and blaze (Rules engine) Integration, Administration & process engagements.
  • Lead development teams through design challenges helping to clear roadblocks for team members to achieve positive results. Facilitate communication of business requirements to internal and HQ IT teams
  • Design to-be system based on business requirements by teaming up with HCA development and business teams for design analysis sessions and reviewing the existing architecture of the system and providing solution which meets the requirements and aligns with HCA project management and HCA architecture review guidelines.
  • Provide guidance to business on IT processes and, as a subject matter expert in business functions, provide recommendations on best practices to improve systems.
  • Partner with business units to understand business pain points to translate to technical/functional requirements adhering to HCA best practices while uncovering impacts to upstream or downstream processes.
  • Proactively act as solution consultant bringing process improvements to business teams by fully understanding capabilities of the system and effectively communicating the value and efficiencies of a change.
  • Intake business requirements to provide impact assessment identifying estimates (cost/time) to develop.
  • Manage vendor relationship with HCA IT’s key strategic partners involved in day-to-day production, projects, or other enhancements.
  • Hold vendor accountable for service levels, project deliverables and milestone dates. Collect and review SOWs for completeness and accuracy. Work with PMO to ensure vendor and contractor funding in place to support IT resources involved in project or enhancement efforts.
  • Assist with identifying appropriate resources and external vendors, developing schedules, and managing external vendors and internal resources to ensure successful implementation of the assigned applications.
  • Lead and coordinate the development, designing, coding, testing, debugging, and implementation of blaze and daybreak applications using Blaze Rules Engine, Java, and Database queries, adhering to corporate requirements and standards.
  • Schedule design and code review sessions with development teams and business teams to enforce design, coding standards and best practices for projects and enhancements requests.
  • Manage and ensure SCRs are opened and properly updated throughout enhancement and/or project lifecycle. Ensure proper SCR audit trail and documentation present in preparation for CCB deployment approval. Represent IT at deployment approval meetings.
  • Monitor and test application performance for potential bottlenecks, identify possible solutions, and work with developers to implement those fixes.
  • Troubleshoot and provide guidance to production support teams on escalated system issues working with development teams and production support to propose and implement solutions.
