About The Position

SUMMARY: Under basic supervision, installs, maintains, and repairs complex traffic control systems, signals, components, and controllers; responds to emergency maintenance requests. Essential duties and responsibilities may include, but are not limited to, the following: Inspects, installs, maintains, and repairs complex traffic control systems, signals, components, and controllers; installs and maintains inductive-loop traffic detectors and camera vehicle detection systems. Programs traffic signal controllers, and runs conflict monitor testing units; inspects traffic control cabinets, systems, and equipment, and performs preventive maintenance; follows all safety rules, regulations, and PWD policies for traffic control on the job site; responds to emergency maintenance requests. Maintains and operates PWD vehicles and equipment according to Department standards. Utilizes proper safety precautions in all work performed; reports problems and emergency situations; recognizes, avoids, and reports unsafe acts, conditions, accidents, and injuries. Supports the departmental operations with regular and timely attendance. Supports the relationship between the City of Odessa and the general public by demonstrating courteous and cooperative behavior when interacting with visitors and City staff; maintains confidentiality of work-related issues and City information; performs other duties as required or assigned.

Requirements

High School Diploma or GED equivalent
Two years' traffic signal maintenance experience
Knowledge of procedures, equipment, and tools used for installation, maintenance, and repair of electrical equipment.
Knowledge of traffic control and safety procedures and regulations, including MUTCD standards.
Skill in safe and efficient operation and maintenance of vehicles, tools, and equipment.
Skill in following standard operating and safety procedures, and technical manuals and procedures.
Skill in establishing and maintaining cooperative working relationships with co-workers.
A Texas State Commercial Driver's License is required.

Nice To Haves

IMSA Certification Level I is preferred.
