About The Position

Collins Aerospace is looking for an experienced Sr Service Engineer to join their service engineering and support team located in Lemoore, California. Training will initially be conducted in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. This position requires both computer hardware and software experience, networking knowledge/experience with Linux RHEL or similar operating systems A self-starter capable of working alone and with large groups and comfortable around military customers, both pilots and maintainers. The candidate will also be responsible for coordination of activities with the customer, communicating with Program Management, Design Engineering, and other Service Engineers on a variety of programs supported by the military aviation systems and support product line team. Candidate must possess the necessary people skills to effectively communicate with customers, internal and external to Collins Aerospace under a wide variety of environments. Candidate will be required to attend a variety of meetings/events that are both internal and external facing and document the discussions for the program team. Installation of avionics equipment at fixed, geographically remote sites and on airborne military platforms will be required and must be performed in accordance with engineering specifications. Participants must also be capable of working with and using hand tools and have sufficient work experience with Microsoft Office Suite. This is an onsite position located at Lemoore Naval Air Station in California. This role is eligible for relocation. Travel up to 80 percent if not local to customer. May require atypical hours based on customer need.

Requirements

  • Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) (preferably Electronics, IT, or Cybersecurity) and minimum 5 years prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 3 years of experience.
  • Prior Aviation experience.
  • Must have experience with COMSEC loading devices (such as an SKL).
  • Must hold a current and valid Real ID drivers license to support travel requirements.
  • Linux experience (preferred RHEL 7+).
  • Experience performing avionics, integration, post-installation testing, or certification activities.
  • Active and transferable U.S. government issued security clearance is required prior to start date.​ U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance​
  • DoD Clearance: Secret
  • Active and existing security clearance required on day 1

Nice To Haves

  • Capable of training customers and system users ad-hoc or in the classroom.
  • TCTSII/CRIIS/TCTS1/ARDS/Aii experience is a plus.
  • Knowledge of Linux Administration either by Experience/CompTIA Linux+/etc. Network Certifications (CompTIA Security+/Network+).
  • Network understanding of routes, IPs, and transport protocols (TCP/UDP).
  • Previous field service experience working closely with naval ranges (PODs/Operators/etc.)
  • Prior military aviation experience especially with F18s/F16s and/or F35s.
  • Experience with TARIF systems, RADs, JDS, Live Monitor.

Responsibilities

  • Be the main point of contact (POC) for TCTSII as the local Subject Matter Expert (SME).
  • Provide on-site maintenance capabilities to include component triage & testing, determine faulty condition, repair, replace, and upgrade as needed.
  • Interface with customers (both internal and external) with a wide range of system understanding.
  • Provide on-site diagnosis, data collection, and reports back to engineering for system improvements.
  • Review detailed execution plans and schedules with the project management and Service Engineering team lead to ensure adequacy, completeness, and harmonization with the overall program level plan.
  • Advise the customer on the physical installation of remote radios, avionic modules, and user interfaced in various of platform avionics equipment whether on ground, airborne, or ship-board platforms.
  • Train customers and system users ad-hoc and in classroom.
  • Serve as a role model to coworkers by demonstrating respect and sensitivity for fellow workers and promoting open discussion of issues.
  • Provide world-class service to customers and produce exemplary results.
  • Assess the costs, benefits, and risks of a decision while using sound logic to make well-informed decisions
  • Lift/carry up to 50 pounds.
  • Be a self-starter with great time management skills.
  • Position will travel and provide support to remote radios as needed.
