About The Position

We are seeking an experienced Senior Self-Cert Architect licensed in the City of Chicago to support and expand a growing design/build practice. This leadership role combines architectural design oversight, zoning and code expertise, and team mentorship across a diverse project portfolio including rooftop decks, new construction, residential renovations, and mixed-use developments. The ideal candidate brings strong local permitting knowledge, experience with Chicago Self-Certification, and the ability to manage multiple concurrent projects in a fast-paced environment.

Requirements

Licensed Architect in the City of Chicago
Minimum 10 years of local architectural experience
Self-Certification experience strongly preferred
Strong expertise in zoning, code compliance, and Chicago permitting processes
Proven ability to manage multiple projects and supervise junior staff
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Confident, self-motivated professional comfortable in a fast-paced environment

Nice To Haves

Experience managing freelance or independent architectural projects preferred

Responsibilities

Lead architectural design efforts for rooftop decks, new construction, additions, and mixed-use renovation projects
Oversee zoning analysis, building code compliance, and permit coordination
Utilize Self-Certification authority where applicable
Supervise and mentor junior designers through design development and permitting phases
Collaborate with in-house structural engineers, inspectors, and general contractors
Manage freelance and collaborative projects from concept through construction
Communicate effectively with clients, consultants, and internal stakeholders
Contribute strategically to practice growth and long-term service expansion
