About The Position

Sr. Risk Associate, Risk Assessments Commercial Risk is a first line of defense function which supports our Commercial Banking Lines of Business in managing non-credit risk. Commercial Risk associates collaborate across the division, as well as with other Line of Business first line teams and second and third line partners, to develop and implement well-managed risk practices. Senior Associates at Capital One are motivated risk professionals with excellent analytical, organizational and communication skills. They are experienced in operating in a highly dynamic environment and can balance the needs of multiple stakeholders while working independently. Senior Associates have an ability to work across teams to create innovative solutions to appropriately manage risk within Commercial while maintaining an attention to detail. If you are curious and eager to learn new things, love problem solving, and have a deep reverence for risk management, this may be the role for you. Strong problem solving, integrative thinking, prioritization, and analytical skills are essential for success in this role. Additionally, building win-win partnerships with multiple business stakeholders and across Commercial Risk work streams while adapting to change in a dynamic environment are key for this role.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree or Military experience
  • At least 2 years of Financial Services or Risk Management experience

Nice To Haves

  • At least 4 years of experience in Risk Management, Compliance, Audit or consulting for Financial Services firms
  • Commercial Banking experience

Responsibilities

  • Use analytical skills to identify trends and opportunities to improve the risk management framework and audit and exam readiness
  • Utilize agile principles and practices to effectively manage and prioritize work
  • Think broadly, evaluate current practices and challenge the status quo; thought leadership
  • Develop and maintain effective working relationships with key business partners
  • Demonstrate flexibility and proactivity in responding to changes in assignment and job responsibility
  • Collaborate with second line Risk (e.g. ERM, ORM, Compliance/AML), Audit, Legal, Fraud and LOB Risk partners to support risk assessments (e.g. Product and Process) and create leading-edge solutions
  • Perform risk assessments on critical business processes to identify risks and work with key stakeholders to mitigate and remediate as appropriate
  • Execute the risk assessment and remediation program governance on behalf of the Commercial business
  • Communicate scope, issues, risks and recommendations to management (written and oral)
  • Work with Enterprise Risk Management and other lines of business to develop and implement the Future of Risk Assessments at Capital One
