About The Position

The Sr. Residence Hall Coordinator (Sr. RHC) at the University of Missouri-Columbia plays a vital role in fostering inclusive and supportive residential communities for students. The Sr. RHC is responsible for program development, advising student government, and acting as a liaison with various campus resources to enhance student success and belonging.

Requirements

  • A Bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • At least 3 years of experience in a related field.

  • Experience in Housing or Residential Life, including conflict mediation and crisis management.
  • Understanding of diversity and inclusivity issues.
  • Demonstrated leadership and communication skills.
  • Possess a valid driver's license and vehicle.

Responsibilities

  • Develop relationships with residents to help them be successful at Mizzou.
  • Model and challenge students to uphold the University of Missouri's core values of Respect, Responsibility, Discovery, and Excellence.
  • Create and promote a caring atmosphere conducive to academic pursuits and personal development.
  • Advise, counsel, and hold students accountable, making referrals when necessary.
  • Develop and implement ongoing learning and experiential programs focused on student learning outcomes.
  • Review programs for success and implement improvements as needed.
  • Advise and collaborate with student leaders and organizations.
  • Interact and counsel students on rules, policies, and resources to ensure compliance with university standards.
  • Assist with the selection, training, and supervision of Resident Advisors.
  • Plan and implement weekly RA staff meetings and conduct regular one-on-one meetings with RAs.
  • Provide feedback to RAs regarding job performance and development.
  • Participate in staff training for RAs and develop community among RA staff.
  • Maintain daily office hours and be available for residents and staff.
  • Manage administrative responsibilities including health & safety checks and occupancy management.
  • Lead and support departmental committees and maintain hall rosters using StarRez software.
  • Ensure maintenance issues are reported and resolved promptly.
  • Provide first-line crisis response and participate in a year-round duty rotation.
  • Support at-risk students and assist with disciplinary referrals.
  • Assist with student staff recruitment and department-wide programming.
