About The Position

Summary: The Senior Reservoir Engineering Advisor is an asset-focused role that provides technical leadership across the full reservoir-management cycle, with a strong focus on enhanced oil recovery (EOR) strategy, maturation, and deployment. This position serves as a trusted advisor to the Vice President of Reservoir Engineering and the integrated asset team, linking subsurface understanding, production performance, operational execution, and economic value to improve decision quality. The role drives integrated development plans and EOR programs aligned with corporate objectives, capital, and production targets. Success requires strong coordination and influence across geoscience, reservoir engineering, drilling and completions, production/operations, facilities, commercial/finance, and land/legal. This highly visible role reports directly to the Vice President of Reservoir Engineering and interfaces with leadership across these functions.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Petroleum Engineering or related discipline.
  • 20+ years of reservoir engineering experience with a demonstrated, field-proven EOR background (screening through execution, surveillance, and scale-up).
  • Expertise in reservoir characterization and performance evaluation, including PVT/phase behavior, relative permeability, pressure-transient testing, and core/SCAL interpretation.
  • Strong forecasting and uncertainty management skills; experience with reserves/economics integration and decision-quality framing for leadership reviews.
  • Demonstrated asset-facing experience supporting planning, production forecasting, and AFEs with strong business and commercial acumen.
  • Proven ability to coordinate and influence across multi-disciplinary teams and stakeholders; strong facilitation, communication, and conflict-resolution skills.
  • Proficiency with industry tools for surveillance and modeling (decline/rate-transient analysis, reservoir simulation as appropriate), and data/visualization platforms (e.g., Spotfire, SQL, Aries or similar).
  • Demonstrated sound reservoir engineering practices in field execution environments.

Nice To Haves

  • Advanced degree (M.S. or Ph.D.) in Petroleum Engineering or related discipline.
  • Experience in the Midland Basin.

Responsibilities

  • Own company asset EOR vision and technical roadmap, including screening, concept select, pilot design, execution readiness, and scale-up/full-field deployment where applicable.
  • Coordinate and align the integrated asset team (Geoscience, Reservoir Engineering, Business Development, Drilling & Completions, Production/Operations, Facilities, Commercial/Finance, and Land/Legal) to develop EOR projects.
  • Define EOR pilot objectives, success criteria, economic evaluation, budgets/AFEs as applicable, and lead surveillance/performance diagnostics
  • Coordinate execution with Operations and Facilities and integrate learnings to reduce uncertainty and enable commercialization decisions.
  • Evaluate emerging EOR technologies and lead fit-for-purpose field trials with clear value cases.
  • Prepare and review EOR decision-quality materials for leadership and regulators as needed, clearly communicating uncertainties and recommendations.
  • Coach and mentor engineers and geoscientists; establish best practices, workflows, and technical assurance to elevate company capability in EOR.
