About The Position

The University of Miami/UHealth department of Neurology has an exciting opportunity for a Full Time Sr. Research Laboratory Technician to work at the UHealth Medical Campus. The Sr. Research Laboratory Technician performs advanced technical activities related to laboratory research projects and clinical trials within the department. Specifically, the Sr. Research Laboratory Technician aids scientists by monitoring and recording study findings.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent required.
  • Minimum 3 years of relevant experience required.
  • Certified phlebotomist preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Downloads, enters, and regulates data and maintains quality assurance.
  • Contributes to report writing and graphical presentation of data.
  • Monitors inventory of equipment and supplies and places orders in a timely fashion.
  • Maintains laboratory facilities and equipment in compliance with safety regulations and policies.
  • Collect and process biological samples (plasma, serum, saliva following standardized protocols).
  • Perform phlebotomy on research participants.
  • Collect saliva samples from research participants.
  • Ensures all research is undertaken according to good research practice and guidance.
  • Utilize centrifuges to process samples and aliquot for storage or shipping.
  • Record data into Laboratory Management System and research database.
  • Maintain inventory of laboratory equipment and supplies and place orders in a timely fashion.
  • Clean, sanitize, maintain, and operate laboratory equipment.
  • Keep records of research data and assists in analyzing it.
  • Prepare reports of experiment results.
  • Adheres to University and unit-level policies and procedures and safeguards University assets.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
