About The Position

The Global Resilience Institute (GRI) at Northeastern University is seeking a Senior Research Associate to join its interdisciplinary team dedicated to enhancing community resilience through innovative research and practical applications. This position is critical in supporting various community-engaged studies aimed at improving resilience in communities across the U.S. and Caribbean Island nations. The role is grant-funded and is set to commence in Fall 2024, with the potential for yearly renewals based on funding availability and performance. The Senior Research Associate will collaborate closely with principal investigators on research projects, which may include federally funded studies exploring climate adaptation models and resilience planning. Responsibilities will encompass leading the writing of academic papers, managing data collection and curation, and supervising undergraduate or graduate research assistants. Additionally, the role involves creating communication materials for social media, websites, and print, as well as conducting interviews and analyzing qualitative data. The position also requires the development of proposals for new funding opportunities, working alongside the Senior Research Scientist at GRI. The successful candidate will be expected to engage in substantial full-time research, contributing to the synthesis and evaluation of complex qualitative information, and writing professional project reports that summarize findings and propose actionable solutions. The role will also involve liaising with funding collaborators and supporting community engagement sessions, ensuring that the research aligns with the needs of the communities served. Overall, this position offers a unique opportunity to contribute to impactful research that addresses pressing resilience challenges, while also fostering community engagement and collaboration across various sectors.
