The department of Public Health has an exciting opportunity for a full-time Sr. Research Associate 2 to work onsite on the UHealth campus. The Sr. Research Associate 2, SOM ensures that the operations of the assigned laboratory are efficient and in compliance with applicable guidelines and regulations. Moreover, this employee engages in complex and specialized research activities in furtherance of the University’s research goals and objectives. Our research directly informs resource allocation decisions, policy development, and implementation strategies to improve access to evidence-based addiction treatment. This position offers the opportunity to work on multiple NIH-funded studies, develop expertise in health economics methods, and contribute to publications that shape the field.

  • Contributes to basic and applied research activities by collecting and analyzing data and maintaining databases.

  • Conduct Comparative Economic Evaluations of Substance Use Disorder (SUD) Interventions
  • Develop methods and tools to support budget impact analyses that can be adopted by researchers and organizations providing SUD treatment or related interventions addressing HIV, HCV among people who use substances.
  • Conduct applied research focused on estimating economic impact of treatment and preventive interventions using cost-effectiveness and cost-benefit analyses
  • Perform budget impact analyses of SUD treatment and HIV/HCV prevention interventions
  • Calculate incremental cost-effectiveness ratios (ICERs), conduct sensitivity analyses, and interpret results in policy-relevant contexts
  • Support Economic Data Harmonization Initiatives
  • Assemble and organize multi-study databases to support harmonization of economic measures across studies
  • Clean and validate data from multiple sources (claims data, EHR, survey data) to generate cross-study datasets
  • Develop and maintain data dictionaries, codebooks, and analysis documentation
  • Research Products & Dissemination
  • Contribute to manuscript preparation for peer-reviewed journals
  • Develop tables, figures, and data visualizations for publications and presentations
  • Prepare research summaries and policy briefs for stakeholder audiences
  • Present findings at team meetings and research conferences
  • Master’s Degree in relevant field required
  • Minimum 1 year of relevant experience required
  • 1-3 years of applied research experience in health economics, economic evaluation, or related quantitative research.
  • Skill in collecting, organizing, and analyzing data.
  • Ability to recognize, analyze, and solve a variety of problems.
  • Ability to exercise sound judgment in making critical decisions.
  • Recent graduates with strong methodological training and relevant coursework/thesis work will be considered.
