About The Position

The University of Miami Health System, "UHealth", Department of Pediatrics- Gastroenterology, has an exciting opportunity for a Senior Research Associate 1 to work in Miami. The Sr. Research Associate 1 provides laboratory-based support for the University’s research activities by tackling the more specialized and complex projects and experiments. Additionally, the incumbent leverages expertise in training and mentoring department staff, students, and less experienced research associates.

Requirements

Responsibilities

  • Collects, analyzes, and presents research data.
  • Monitors and maintains relevant research databases to ensure accurate data entries.
  • Understands and interprets research protocols and procedures.
  • Participates in the publication of significant results to include authorship of scientific monographs.
  • Advances expertise through continued education, training, and research.
  • Maintains current knowledge of relevant developments in the field.
  • Ensures all research is undertaken according to good research practice.
  • Warrants that department activities comply with applicable guidelines and regulations.
  • Adheres to University and unit-level policies and procedures and safeguards University assets.
  • Drafts, edits, and formats manuscripts, book chapters, abstracts, and responses to peer reviewers for publication in top-tier journals.
  • Manages references using EndNote and ensures proper citation formatting across multiple documents.
  • Assists international collaborators with manuscript development, including those with limited writing or language support.
  • Leads execution and coordination of multiple global research initiatives, including Rome V, FINDERS, and multicenter clinical surveys.
  • Manages timelines, deliverables, and communication across multi-site international research teams.
  • Coordinates meetings, prepares agendas, synthesizes feedback, and ensures follow-through on action items.
  • Creates and submits IRB protocols and amendments.
  • Ensures compliance with institutional and international regulations.
  • Oversees patient consent and data privacy protocols in both English and Spanish.
  • Designs and implements REDCap surveys for data collection across multiple studies.
  • Enters, organizes, and verifies data collected from participants.
  • Translates and administers validated surveys and questionnaires in clinical settings.
  • Develop figures, diagnostic algorithms, and graphical abstracts for publications.
  • Prepares visual content for book chapters and peer-reviewed articles, ensuring high quality and clarity.
  • Coordinates book publication projects, including liaison with Elsevier and the Elsa editorial platform.
  • Manages contributor outreach, permissions for copyrighted material, and overall content assembly.
  • Serves as primary point of contact for national and international research collaborators.
  • Facilitates regular communication, shares project updates, and ensures consistency in research goals across teams.
