About The Position

Join a dynamic Specialty Engineering team where you will have the opportunity to design, develop, and analyze product capabilities for a wide range of developmental equipment, as well as repackaged existing solutions. Our engineers work across board, middleware, and complete system levels, developing custom systems that meet the rigorous demands of rugged environments. The role involves collaboration with a multidisciplinary team to optimize system design and analysis throughout the product lifecycle.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Aerospace, or closely related technical discipline with 10 years of experience or a Master's degree with 8 years of R&M experience.
  • DOD Secret clearance or higher.
  • 5 years of experience with reliability principles, practices, and root cause analysis.
  • Experience with MIL-HDBK standards including 217, 338, 1629A, 470A, and 472.
  • Extensive knowledge of structural, mechanical, and electrical oriented Reliability Engineering.
  • Experience with FMEA, FMECA, and FRACAS processes.
  • Comfortable with fast-paced and dynamic product development environments.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with DoD/aerospace practices and programmatic experience with BOE, RFP, ROM.
  • DOD Top Secret clearance or higher.
  • Experience with Software Reliability/Software FMEA using IEEE 1633 or MIL-HDBK-338B.
  • Experience with SFMEA using SAE ARP 5580.
  • Ability to determine and execute evaluation methods for questions at hand.
  • Experience evaluating designs from an R&M perspective and mitigating risks.
  • Experience with probability, statistical concepts, and mathematical modeling.
  • Experience with mechanical modeling and simulation tools like Windchill.
  • Experience with electrical circuit analysis and schematics.
  • Experience in various aircraft systems and environmental/reliability testing.
  • Ability to assess system-level impacts based on component-level data.
  • Experience with system modeling tools such as Cameo or similar MBSE tools.

Responsibilities

  • Apply technical skills within a systems engineering framework, including production and support equipment design.
  • Develop, derive, understand, and assign Reliability & Maintainability (R&M) requirements for all phases of a program.
  • Write guides, develop analyses, and model to address requirements at component, subsystem, and system levels.
  • Design, prepare, and review documents consistent with US Military Data Item Descriptions.
  • Assess Mean Time Between Failure (MTBF), Mean Time Between Critical Failure, Mean Time to Repair (MTTR), and Operational Availability.
  • Develop reliability predictions based on methods for mechanical/electrical components, systems, and support equipment.
  • Review engineering designs from other disciplines and approve changes to existing designs when applicable.
  • Conduct Failure Reporting, Analysis, and Corrective Action System (FRACAS) and drive failure investigations to root cause and corrective action.
  • Perform Failure Modes and Effects Analysis (FMEA), Failure Mode Effects, and Criticality Analysis (FMECA), Built-in Test (BIT) development, and system-level severity assessments.
  • Establish Environmental Stress Screening (ESS) procedures and perform Highly Accelerated Lifetime Testing (HALT).
  • Drive best practices from an R&M perspective for all programs.
  • Engage in training and mentoring of less experienced engineers in R&M.
