The Senior Reinsurance Accountant will work closely with the National Healthcare Practice and Insurance Accounting teams in order to ensure the complete and accurate accounting of our growth focused reinsurance division. This position will assist the reinsurance accounting team in administering all aspects of all reinsurance agreements in accordance with treaty parameters and ensuring proper accounting treatment for all reinsurance transactions. This position is responsible for creating entries to the Reinsurance system for premiums, allowances, claims recoverable, and updating and maintaining the system parameters to support business needs. This position will require active communication with reinsurers, clients, finance staff, auditors, and service teams to ensure company is fulfilling all terms of reinsurance agreements. Your Impact Oversee daily activities, including payables/receivables and general ledger Administer existing and new reinsurance agreements according to treaty parameters. Create and maintain spreadsheets tracking treaty activity, including claims fund tracking. Analyze new reinsurance agreements and recommend and establish procedures for capturing data and reporting to clients and reinsurers. Assist brokers with premium projections for new/renewal business. Ensure timely, accurate, and complete calculations, recording, reporting and billing in accordance with treaty terms. Prepare and record journal entries as required for reinsurance activity. Reconcile reinsurance related activity, identify issues, coordinate resolution and take corrective action. Assist Insurance Accounting with month-end close including revenue reporting and revenue accruals. Manage client, market and financial reporting while simultaneously overseeing payables. Coordinate with internal and external auditors during audits, providing necessary documentation and responses to audit inquiries. Communicate with supervisors, reinsurers, clients and high-level representatives from other departments (e.g., claims, actuarial, finance). Successful Candidate Will Have Ability to work with senior leadership. Bachelor’s degree in accounting or equivalent. CPA or Master’s Degree a plus. Minimum of 6 years of relevant experience. Healthcare reinsurance or Insurance industry experience a plus. Proficiency in Excel and Word. Ability to coordinate and manage projects, be proactive and deadline-focused. At Risk Strategies Company, base pay is one part of our total compensation package, which also includes a comprehensive suite of benefits, including medical, dental, vision, disability, life, and retirement savings, The total compensation for a position may also include other elements dependent on the position offered. The expected base pay range for this position is between $64,800 - $110,000. The actual base pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including geographical location, education, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
