About The Position

This person leads product regulatory compliance outside of North America, providing market access and assuring compliance to federal regulation of the country of sale, including Import regulation, labeling, product standards, ingredients, and claims. This position provides regulatory leadership and guidance, anticipates business needs, and adapts quickly to changing priorities and unexpected challenges. The role supports all international markets while partnering across functions to ensure effective and efficient communication and ways of working. They will communicate and influence compliance-related matters for General Mills Pet International. Regions in Scope include Australia, Europe, and Asia. The successful candidates will be members of the Pet FSQ Core Team supporting the Pet Segment.

Requirements

  • 7+ years of similar experience in the food industry.
  • Bachelor's in Chemistry, Biology, Food Science, Nutrition, or a related field.
  • Advanced knowledge of international regulatory affairs or pet food regulations is required.
  • Excellent communication skills (verbal and written)
  • Strong problem-solving and critical thinking skills
  • Ability to deal with constant change and ambiguity

  • This role is located in Golden Valley, MN and will not consider remote applicants or international applications. General Mills will provide relocation to the candidate selected for this role as long as they meet the relocation assistance policy.

Responsibilities

  • Manage product registration, claims substantiation, and engagement with regulatory authorities.
  • Manage regulatory and labeling compliance needs, consultant engagement, and business support for the European market.
  • Partner with global trade as Regulatory and Labeling SME for current and new market entry.
  • Serve as the point of contact for global trade initiatives related to import and export.
  • Lead the admissibility process for International and communicate requirements to the cross-functional team.
  • Develop and maintain up-to-date knowledge of current regulations and relevant technical product and processing information.
  • Manage a global network of consultants and country experts to address compliance with current and evolving regulations and monitor emerging regulatory issues pertaining to pet food standards & labeling.
  • Make risk management recommendations and decisions to balance regulatory risk with business and operational needs.
