About The Position

Mecklenburg County Park & Recreation is excited to welcome a creative and innovative Sr Recreation Facility Manager to the team! This position will oversee daily operations and recreation activities at various recreation centers and satellite sites throughout Mecklenburg County. Our recreation services include but are not limited to summer camps, school day out programs, afterschool programs, and community events. Additionally, the selected candidate will manage our Meck Rec and Roll vehicle, the department’s mobile recreation program. The incumbent will also provide leadership to recreation staff and oversee their training and recreation program implementation. They will also participate in fiscal management and budget planning for recreation sites under their supervision. The selected candidate will be instrumental in developing and maintaining strong partnerships with internal and external partners to enable us to continue serving our community well. The preferred candidate will possess strong leadership competencies and be well-versed in leading diverse teams. This position will be required to work evenings and weekends as needed based upon business needs. Requirements

Minimum of six (6) years of experience in recreational programming
One (1) year of supervisory experience
Bachelor's Degree in Recreation Administration, Park and Recreation, or a related field
Combination of relevant education and relevant experience accepted?: Yes
Requires a valid North Carolina or South Carolina Driver’s License and County Driving Privileges
Principles, practices, and techniques of public recreation programs and the needs of all levels and age groups
Facilities and equipment required in both indoor and outdoor recreation activities
Leadership in various recreational activities, including supervisory skills
Preparing concise and accurate reports

3+ years of recreational supervisory experience
Certified Park and Recreation Professional (CPRP) certification
Strong community engagement experience

Responsibilities

Manage program and customer service staff, programs and maintenance
Establish and maintain partnerships with agencies, neighborhood groups and user groups for developing an effective recreation plan for the community
Manage all contracts with agencies, vendors and instructors
Manage fiscal management, budget planning, implementation, execution and monitoring achievement of defined facility revenue and expense goals
Monitor facility revenue through daily admissions, facility passes, fitness, wellness, and recreation programs, and facility rentals
Manage and monitors vendor, agency and individual contracts
Participate in staff conferences in planning comprehensive recreation programs
Investigate and take action on requests, suggestions or complaints concerning recreation services
Provide leadership by introducing new programs, equipment and facilities to staff members and the community
Purchase equipment and supplies as needed
Responsible for inventory control of equipment and materials allocated to programs
