The role involves applying standard engineering practices and techniques, assisting in planning, design, and production of engineering drawings, and participating in engineering investigations and planning work. The engineer will also prepare reports, perform engineering calculations, and conduct field observations of construction.

Requirements

  • B.S. in Engineering required.
  • Professional Engineering license required in NY.
  • Good interpersonal skills and capable of developing technical writing and communications skills.
  • PC and CAD skills required.
  • 15+ years’ experience in engineering.
  • 10+ years’ experience in rail and transit engineering.
  • Experienced in MS Office (Excel, OneNote, Word, etc.).
  • Available to perform field reviews and coordination meetings.
  • Scheduled to work full time.

Responsibilities

  • Assists in the planning, design, and production of engineering drawings.
  • May supervise the production of engineering drawings.
  • Carries out specific assignments in preparing and assembling specifications.
  • Participates in conducting engineering investigations and planning work by completing well-defined tasks.
  • Prepares assigned sections of reports under the close review of a more experienced professional.
  • Participates on projects involving construction activities by reviewing shop drawings for conformance with specifications.
  • Assists in recordkeeping and generating progress reports.
  • Observes construction procedures and collects samples for quality control testing.
  • Performs data acquisition and analysis, researching feasibility of design approaches and site conditions.
  • Prepares material for reports and permit applications.
  • Performs engineering calculations.
  • Performs field observations of construction.
