The Sr R&D Manager – External Innovation will be responsible for scouting, identifying, and analyzing new technologies. They will be responsible for building relationships with external partners, including start-ups, universities, national labs and innovation echo-systems and collaborate to utilize these technologies to broaden Solstice Advanced Materials innovation capabilities. This person will be working with other teams in the organization including marketing, commercial, legal, Solstice Ventures to accelerate feasibility assessment of emerging technologies for potential fit in Solstice Advanced Materials product portfolio. This person will also be responsible for building out a robust business process for reviewing technology opportunities and enabling funding decisions by the business.
Responsibilities
- Identify, analyze, and prioritize relevant open (external) innovation opportunities and ensure cross-functional feedback and internal alignment
- Ideating, scoping, pitching, and generating internal stakeholder buy-in and gaining approval to fund projects
- Acting as a key contributor to Solstice AM superior product portfolio pipeline
- Build and maintain a robust network of startups, academics, accelerators, incubators in the relevant scientific fields
- Summarize background research and analysis, and aggregate data to recommend a partner management strategy
- Conduct technology competitive assessment to identify best in-class technology options for Solstice
