This role is in Textron System's Marine & Land Systems business area. In this role, you will be responsible for performing calibrations, nondestructive tests, and evaluations for acceptance or rejection determinations according to written instructions and recording results. The selected individual will interpret welds requirements from various processes according with but not limited to Military Standard 2035, AWS Specifications, and ASME Section IV.

  • Set up and utilize radiographic testing equipment.
  • Actively participate in Radiation safety Programs.
  • Ensure the work or radiation area is controlled.
  • Calibrate radiographic testing equipment as required.
  • Conduct radiographic tests to ensure quality or detection of discontinuities.
  • Establish techniques for proper examination of welds under inspection while ensuring strict adherence to safety rules and regulations.
  • Apply testing criteria in accordance with applicable specifications or standards and evaluate results.
  • Interpret radiographs.
  • Organize and report test results.
  • Complete, maintain and/or submit daily radiation reports for management review, as required.
  • Perform specialized inspections as required.
  • Train and/or provide direction to current, new or lower level employees including leading a group, as required.
  • Perform other job related tasks as assigned by management.
  • Associates or vocational degree preferred.
  • Five (5) plus years of related NDT and/or Radiographer level II experience.
  • Demonstrated technical background in related NDT methods and procedures.
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively perform assigned Level II radiographer tasks and interpret results of inspections.
  • Must obtain Level II certifications both internally and through ASNT in methods identified and within 6 months of employment.
  • Must obtain Louisiana dual certification in X-ray and radioactive material within 6 months of employment.
  • General knowledge of PT and VT is required.
  • Advanced knowledge of other NDT methods is a plus.
  • Demonstrated proficiency with computers and MS Office applications including Outlook, Word, Excel, etc.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to interface effectively within and across teams both internally and externally as required.
  • Willingness and flexibility to work extended hours as needed to accomplish the task or work with little or no prior notification.
