About The Position

Leads inspection of company-produced aircraft products and associated documentation, completes first article inspection reports, performs receiving inspection, records data, prepares formal reports, completes FAA and customer-required certification documents.

Requirements

  • Minimum of high school diploma or equivalent with demonstrated skills.
  • Five years inspection experience with aviation parts.
  • Experience with inspection planning, tools, and processes.
  • US Citizen Required - this position is located at a facility that requires special access.
  • Familiar with Aerospace quality terms and concepts.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, engineer drawings and additional customer supplied data.
  • Knowledgeable in mathematical operations and performing measurement conversions.
  • Ability to identify the difference between accuracy and precision.
  • Capable of determining sample size for lots.
  • Ability to use measuring devices required to complete inspection activities.
  • Familiar with GD&T, and recognition of basic NDT terminology.
  • General knowledge of ANSI Y14.5M-1994 and AS9100.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications.
  • Ability to communicate in English (read, write, and verbally communicate).
  • Strong communication, time-management, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to travel as required.
  • Ability to work outside of core business hours as required.
  • Able to climb and work on step stools and/or ladders.
  • Able to lift 25 lbs. without assistance/able to lift up to 100 lbs. with assistance.
  • Able to reach overhead.
  • Able to work in a non-dust-free environment.
  • Normal or corrected vision (required to perform exacting tasks).
  • Full range of motion with both hands.
  • Can work in a stooping, kneeling or standing position and in cramped areas.

Nice To Haves

  • ASQ Mechanical Inspector Certification preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Inspects company-produced products and associated documentation.
  • Completes first article inspection reports.
  • Performs receiving inspection.
  • Records data and prepares formal reports.
  • Approves final inspections.
  • Assists with internal quality system audits.
  • Completes FAA and customer-required certification documents.
  • Verifies and records daily Quality paperwork.
  • Prepares tools and requisitions for forwarding to the calibration labs on a monthly cycle.
  • Performs laboratory procedures as required.
  • Prepares inspection plans and instructions.
  • Selects sampling plan applications.
  • Analyzes and resolves customer related corrective actions.
  • Analyzes quality costs and other quality data.
  • Identifies and recognizes process errors and initiates resolution using the appropriate quality forms.
  • Performs internal and external audits under the guidance of the Quality Assurance Manager.
  • Monitors and reports Supplier performance per internal procedures.
  • Maintains a neat, organized work area and helps with the general daily housekeeping of the department.
  • Meets target hours and completes schedules as set by Supervision.
  • Maintains regular attendance including being at work, being on time to work and working full shifts.
  • Other duties as assigned.
