The Quality Systems & Compliance Lead is the owner and steward of the Drinking Water Business Unit’s Quality Management System (QMS). This role ensures that all quality procedures, records, and processes are maintained, compliant, audit‑ready, and consistently executed across all plants. The position provides governance of internal audits, regulatory and certification readiness, and audit‑related corrective actions. It plays a key role in driving standardization and QMS maturity throughout the business unit. This role ensures the organization remains audit-ready, compliant, and disciplined through standardized quality systems across plants. Reports to: Quality Manager Location: Freeport, IL – splits time between both Freeport, IL and Lanark, IL facilities.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Quality, Operations, or related field.
  • 5+ years of quality systems, compliance, or manufacturing quality experience.
  • Strong understanding of QMS frameworks (ISO 9001 or similar).
  • Experience leading audits and managing compliance programs.
  • Excellent documentation, communication, and cross‑functional leadership skills.

Responsibilities

  • Serves as the primary owner of the Quality Management System for the Drinking Water BU, ensuring compliance with corporate, regulatory, customer, and certification requirements.
  • Maintains and updates quality procedures, work instructions, forms, and records in alignment with current practices and standards.
  • Ensures documentation accuracy, version control, and adherence to document management processes.
  • Leads and administers the BU internal audit program, including scheduling, auditor coordination, audit execution, and reporting.
  • Ensures audits are conducted in accordance with QMS requirements and applicable standards (e.g., ISO 9001).
  • Identifies gaps, risks, and opportunities for improvement through effective audit practices.
  • Leads regulatory, customer, and certification audit preparedness and ensures all sites maintain full readiness at all times.
  • Coordinates external audits and acts as the primary point of contact with auditors.
  • Interprets regulatory and standard requirements and ensures plant processes and documentation meet expectations.
  • Owns the corrective action response process for internal, external, customer, and certification audits.
  • Ensures all findings are addressed through robust root cause analysis, timely actions, and verified effectiveness.
  • Tracks and reports audit corrective action status to BU Quality leadership.
  • Drives standardization of QMS processes and documentation across all Drinking Water plants.
  • Facilitates sharing of best practices, harmonization of procedures, and alignment to corporate quality standards.
  • Works cross‑functionally with Plant Quality Managers and BU Quality leaders to ensure consistent execution.
  • Monitors QMS health metrics and drives systemic improvements to strengthen compliance, consistency, and audit performance.
  • Provides training and coaching to plant teams on QMS processes, audit expectations, and documentation requirements.
  • Ensures regulatory and certification readiness across plants.
  • Owns audit-related corrective actions and ensures timely closure of audit findings.
  • Standardizes quality processes and documentation across plants.
  • Maintains BU-level visibility of audit status, findings, and compliance readiness.
