About The Position

Acara Solutions has been providing aerospace/defense and advanced manufacturing firms with our staffing services nationally for over 65 years. Our Mountain View, CA (San Jose) aerospace client is looking for a Sr. Quality Engineer to join their organization as a direct salaried employee. The salary range for this position is $130K - $161K with some flexibility possible. They also have a QE position in Sacramento. Microelectronics background a must.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree (ideally in engineering)
  • Min 5 years of quality engineering electronics experience within a highly regulatory industry (e.g., aerospace, medical device, defense). Knowledge or experience with MIL-STD-883 and MIL-PRF-38534 is required
  • Min 3 years' experience in an ISO-9001 certified Quality Management System (a plus to have AS9100, including customer flow-down and Q-Clauses)
  • Min 3 years of experience using standard Quality tools / techniques (e.g., 5 Whys, Fault Tree Analysis, process mapping)
  • ITAR facility - Ability to obtain a government secret clearance in future is required

Nice To Haves

  • Prior experience delivering hardware for aerospace and/or defense programs is highly desired
  • ASQ certifications (CQE, CQA, CSQP, CRE), or other similar professional certifications a plus

Responsibilities

  • Serves as the primary customer-facing team member for all Quality related issues: assessments and product failures, returns, technical issues, process issues, corrective actions; primary point of contact for customer surveys, audits, and site visits.
  • Verifies compliance to all performance specifications, documentation requirements, and customer expectations (per PO, contract, Q-Clauses, etc…) review and approval of design documentation.
  • Verifies compliance to all DCMA requirements for product delivery; supports DCMA product / process audits as required; coordinates Customer Source Inspection (CSI) and/or Government Source Inspection (GSI) site visits as required per customer contracts.
  • Completes First Article Inspection (FAI) per customer contract and/ or source control drawing requirements. Works with various TMS teams to verify compliance and to resolve issues. Documents results in AS9102 format.
  • Leads the response to customer issues; ensure CAPA responses are thorough and completed as per the committed time frames; coordinates customer scorecard reviews and related follow-up activities; coordinates the organization's response to customer- issued audit findings and corrective actions.
  • Reviews customer contracts and purchase order for requirements and potential issues, including documentation, unfunded deliverables (ex. CSI / FAI), exemptions, outsourced processes; coordinates internal reviews and required to ensure proper flow-down to and execution by other departments.
  • Supports the organization's ISO-9001 / AS9100 certification; reports key performance measures, performance levels and trends at quarterly business reviews and other meetings as required; leads small teams through continual improvement efforts to address internal or external corrective actions.
  • Investigates product- and/or process-focused quality concerns as required ensuring on-time response and implementation; reviews and approves recommended nonconformance dispositions; evaluates non-conformance trends, for recommendations and improvements.
  • Supports the Design Development process with quality input to various phase review (PDR, CDR, TRR….) and customer meetings.
