The Senior Quality Technician is responsible for ensuring that incoming materials, subassemblies, and finished laser systems meet defined engineering specifications and the ISO 9000 family of standards. This role supports high-precision manufacturing by performing advanced inspections, analytical testing, and statistical quality analysis to ensure optical, mechanical, and electronic performance. The position applies Statistical Process Control (SPC), trend analysis, and CAPA methodologies to monitor process stability, identify sources of variation, and drive continuous improvement across laser manufacturing operations.

Requirements

  • Associate degree or technical certification in a related field is preferred.
  • Strong working knowledge of ISO 9000 / ISO 9001 Quality Management Systems.
  • Proven experience applying SPC, trend analysis, and process capability techniques.
  • Experience supporting CAPA, nonconformance management, and internal audits.
  • Ability to stand for long periods and perform repetitive tasks.
  • Good hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity.
  • Ability to lift and move materials up to 50 lbs. occasionally.
  • Basic computer skills, including familiarity with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel).

Responsibilities

  • Perform incoming, in-process, and final inspections of optical components, laser assemblies, electronic modules, and precision mechanical parts.
  • Conduct dimensional, optical, and functional testing using calibrated inspection and test equipment (e.g., calipers, micrometers, CMMs, optical comparators, power meters, beam profilers).
  • Apply Statistical Process Control (SPC) tools, including control charts and process capability analysis to monitor critical quality characteristics.
  • Initiate and support nonconformance investigations and root cause analysis related to optical, mechanical, and electronic defects for items in MRB.
  • Develop, implement, and verify Corrective and Preventive Actions (CAPA) to address recurring quality issues and improve process robustness.
  • Review and maintain detailed quality records, inspection reports, test results, deviations, and CAPA documentation in compliance with ISO 9001 and internal quality management system.
  • Support internal, customer, and regulatory audits by providing technical quality data and analysis.
  • Collaborate with Engineering, Manufacturing, and Supply Chain teams to resolve quality issues, improve supplier quality, and enhance process capability.
  • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives and support lean manufacturing practices.
  • Follow company policies and procedures for quality assurance and safety.
