About The Position

Amazon Web Services (AWS) is seeking a Senior Quality Control Engineer (QCE) to execute and support the Integrated Project Quality (IPQ) Program in the delivery of data centers. This role focuses on Civil, Structural and Architectural (CSA) discipline quality control execution with specialized emphasis on prefabricated infrastructure and Off-Site Assembly (OSA) oversight. The Sr. QCE will serve as the technical lead for day-to-day quality management activities and direct oversight of quality control vendors across OSA facilities in North America and on data center deployments across AWS build regions in North and South America (AMER). As part of the Data Center Capacity Delivery (DCCD) organization, you will execute detailed technical quality control work, manage vendor performance, and ensure consistent implementation of IPQ standards across AWS building sites. The IPQ CSA Quality Control Engineer is hands-on, performing both field oversight and technical quality management with particular focus on prefabricated duct bank systems, structural assemblies, and architectural components. They will aid in establishing technical-program-focused quality control methodologies, drive standardization, and increase quality across all AWS building sites. The successful candidate will have proven experience in civil/structural/architectural quality control execution, program development and cross-functional collaboration. They must have a proven record of leading technical quality on large-scale critical infrastructure deployments, including progressive Quality Control, Installation Verification, Equipment Protection, and cost- and schedule-mitigating measures. This position requires excellence in a fast-paced environment and the ability to manage concurrent responsibilities while supporting parallel initiatives.

Requirements

  • Travel up to 80% of the time
  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, Architecture, or Construction Management, or equivalent work experience. 8+ years' experience in civil/structural/architectural quality control/quality assurance of data centers or critical infrastructure
  • Hands-on experience with concrete construction, structural steel, prefabricated systems, and quality control execution. Experience with prefabricated duct bank systems, underground utilities, and site construction processes, including on-site quality installation methodologies
  • Knowledge of CSA industry standards (ASCE, ACI, AISC, IBC, ASTM) and quality control methodologies
  • Experience working with and managing third party vendors. Experience with quality management systems, software/tools, and process improvements, and include specific results like reduced defect rates or improved customer satisfaction

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with technical field trade oversight and off-site prefabrication/assembly management. Experience with data center foundation systems, structural steel assemblies, and building envelope construction.
  • Direct experience with prefabricated concrete, modular construction, and precast assembly quality processes. Familiarity with surveying, geotechnical testing, and materials testing procedures
  • Knowledge of underground utility construction, duct bank installation, and site development quality control
  • Project management experience with multiple concurrent construction projects. Strong technical writing and reporting skills. Experience with quality management systems and documentation processes.
  • Professional certifications (SI, LEED AP, AWS CWI, NICET, or equivalent CSA certifications/accreditations). Architectural, Engineering License or technical certification to align with the specializations noted above

Responsibilities

  • Provide technical field trade oversight for civil, structural, and architectural components and manage off-site prefabrication/assembly quality processes for the OSA program
  • Lead quality control oversight of prefabricated duct bank systems, concrete assemblies, structural steel components, and architectural elements
  • Lead root cause analysis for CSA quality issues, coordinate corrective actions, and implement preventive measures
  • Support IPQ implementation across multiple AMER sites, coordinate with construction teams, and manage quality milestone tracking
  • Maintain quality control documentation, prepare weekly progress reports, and track quality metrics and KPIs within team-standard tooling and mechanisms
  • Conduct routine CSA quality inspections, verify installation compliance, and manage non-conformance resolution processes
  • Directly oversee third-party vendor performance, conduct vendor meetings, and manage quality scorecard assessments
  • Develop, and ensure alignment with, IPQ technical standards, review CSA installation procedures, and validate compliance with AWS specifications
  • Interface with Construction Management, Design Engineering, Commissioning and various stakeholders on technical quality execution
  • Oversee quality control of underground utilities, site work, foundation systems, and building envelope components, including on-site quality installation methodologies
