About The Position

The Sr. QA Engineer I is an individual contributor responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining automated test solutions for Taco Bell’s Kiosk platform. This role focuses on building reliable, scalable automation that validates Kiosk UI workflows, integrated backend systems, and end-to-end restaurant scenarios. The engineer owns automation execution across multiple environments, including local emulators, physical kiosk hardware, and cloud-based infrastructure, and integrates automated testing into the development pipeline to support build validation and release confidence. This role works closely with QE Leads and Development teams to ensure automation aligns with real-world usage, quality risk, and delivery needs. With this role, the opportunities are endless working on a highly visible, technically complex platform that is core to Taco Bell’s in-restaurant experience. The Sr. QA Engineer I will report to the Manager of Quality Assurance.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field.
  • 6+ years of experience in test automation or software engineering roles
  • Extensive hands-on experience writing automation in Java for Android applications, including complex UI-heavy workflows, with familiarity in test automation frameworks and tools for both UI and API testing.
  • Experience working with cloud-based test environments, specifically AWS
  • Ability to independently learn and model complex systems without step-by-step guidance
  • Strong problem-solving skills and comfort troubleshooting failures across multiple layers of the stack
  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate, validate assumptions, and communicate effectively with cross-functional teams
  • Interest in deep technical ownership and automation execution without people management responsibilities

Responsibilities

  • Design, implement, and maintain automated tests for the Kiosk platform across Android UI and end-to-end workflows, extending existing automation frameworks with a focus on reliability, maintainability, scalability, and reporting.
  • Develop automation that runs across local emulators, physical hardware, and cloud-based environments, and integrate automated testing into CI/CD pipelines to support build validation and release confidence
  • Diagnose and resolve complex automation failures related to environment setup, infrastructure, or system interactions.
  • Leverage AI tools to improve automation efficiency, including test creation, refactoring, failure analysis, and documentation
  • Collaborate closely with QE Leads and developers to align automation coverage with real-world usage and risk
  • Document strategies, train users, and support teams as they utilize automation
