About The Position

The Sr Project Manager role is a hybrid role combining estimating, project management, customer service, and operational leadership. This position oversees commercial plumbing and piping projects with a strong emphasis on retrofits, buildouts, tenant improvements, and recurring client support. The role is designed for a mechanically skilled leader who can manage project execution, maintain client relationships, and ensure excellent service delivery. This position leads projects from initial scope development and estimating through construction, closeout, and long-term customer care. Responsibilities include securing competitive pricing from vendors, generating proposals, coordinating field teams, managing project budgets, and maintaining accurate job documentation. The Sr Project Manager also serves as a trusted client-facing representative, ensuring the highest levels of communication, responsiveness, and satisfaction. This is an ideal role for a plumbing/mechanical professional who is skilled at both technical project delivery and customer relationship management, and who thrives in a dynamic environment with a wide range of projects.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of proven experience in plumbing/mechanical project management, estimating, or field leadership.
  • Strong background in commercial plumbing/piping, retrofits, tenant improvements, and mechanical construction.
  • Strong financial acumen with the ability to manage budgets, labor, materials, and schedules.
  • Self-motivated, organized, and customer-focused with excellent follow-through.
  • Strong people skills; able to build trust with clients, technicians, and subcontractors.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication; able to represent the company professionally.
  • Demonstrated ability to improve processes, standardize workflows, and implement best practices.

  • Experience managing mechanical service contracts or ongoing client accounts preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Project Management & Execution Lead and manage assigned plumbing and mechanical retrofit and build-out projects from kickoff through closeout, ensuring alignment with scope, budget, and organizational standards.
  • Oversee all estimating activities, including takeoffs, vendor pricing, proposal development, and customer presentations.
  • Ensure projects are completed on schedule, within scope, and within budget, proactively identifying risks and implementing corrective strategies.
  • Coordinate with field plumbing technicians, subcontractors (piping, controls, rigging, insulation), estimators, and vendors to maintain workflow efficiency.
  • Manage mechanical permits, submittals, RFIs, change orders, T&M tickets, and all closeout documentation.
  • Monitor weekly job costs, labor hours, productivity, and material usage; adjust labor and resources as required.
  • Ensure project quality and safety standards are met; perform periodic site visits to monitor progress and resolve issues.
  • Customer-Facing Leadership Serve as the primary point of contact for assigned clients; build long-term relationships based on trust, responsiveness, and value.
  • Conduct on-site client meetings, walk-throughs, and project reviews to maintain transparency and alignment.
  • Provide consultative solutions to clients, identifying opportunities for system upgrades, retrofits, and future work.
  • Support customer service efforts for ongoing plumbing and piping maintenance, ensuring timely follow-up and communication.
  • Operational Support Participate in weekly Operations Meetings to review project performance, financials, risks, and labor needs.
  • Support onboarding and training for plumbing/piping technicians, promoting consistency and high standards across the team.
  • Collaborate with leadership to improve processes, workflows, and project delivery methods.
  • Maintain effective communication with general contractors, vendors, field teams, and internal departments throughout the project lifecycle.
