We're seeking an experienced Senior Project Manager - Research Lab Construction to join our Buildings & Infrastructure team. This key leadership role offers a unique opportunity to manage the planning, design, and renovation of complex laboratory environments. You'll be responsible for delivering projects that meet stringent technical, safety, and quality requirements while fostering collaboration across design, engineering, construction, and commissioning teams.Your role is pivotal in ensuring each project's technical performance, schedule, and budget are met. You'll serve as the primary point of contact for the client, leading coordination between architects, engineers, contractors, and specialty consultants to achieve successful outcomes. Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science in Construction Management, Architecture, or an Engineering discipline (or equivalent work experience)
  • 12+ years of progressive experience as a Project Manager or Senior Project Manager leading design and construction of laboratory or research facilities.
  • Demonstrated expertise in laboratory systems integration, including HVAC, building automation, plumbing, electrical, and life safety systems.
  • Experience managing large, multi-stakeholder projects through design, construction, commissioning, and occupancy.
  • Strong understanding of schedule management, financial tracking, and contractual administration.
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and conflict-resolution skills in a fast-paced, technical environment.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee all phases of design and construction for advanced laboratory and research facilities.
  • Manage scope, schedule, budget, safety, and quality to ensure delivery in accordance with Jacobs' standards of excellence.
  • Serve as the main point of contact for the client and all project partners, fostering transparent communication and collaboration.
  • Coordinate multidisciplinary design and construction teams, with a focus on complex MEP systems and lab infrastructure (fume hoods, biosafety cabinets, specialty gases, clean utilities, and process piping).
  • Review and approve drawings, submittals, RFIs, change orders, and pay applications for technical accuracy and contractual compliance.
  • Lead risk management and change control processes to maintain alignment between client objectives and project execution.
  • Support commissioning, turnover, and project closeout activities to ensure full operational readiness.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, consultants, and trade partners to drive repeat success and continuous improvement.

  • The base salary range for this position is $144,600.00 to $198,900.00. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
