About The Position

BJC is hiring for a Sr. Project Manager PD&C. We are looking for local candidates. Onsite will be required at times. Role Summary: Conducts and manages multiple large, complex healthcare construction projects, ensuring milestones are achieved and stakeholder requirements are met. Provides mentoring leadership and direction to team project managers and project engineers. PD&C provides professional support for system-wide comprehensive strategic facility plans for the various campuses within BJC. Providing integrated design planning the group brings process excellence and standardization in planning including a reliable estimating, scheduling and cost forecasting system. They serve as educators for their customers bringing strong resources to the system, and reviewing all efforts with an eye towards environmental impact. The department provides the necessary selection, contracting, supervision, management and leadership of system-wide program management services for capital design and construction projects. They are accountable for developing, implementing and maintaining the policies, procedures and systems supporting capital projects executed to improve patient outcomes and satisfaction and increase the productivity and financial results of all BJC facilities. Role Purpose Responsible for managing all aspects of medium to large complex projects from Schematic Design through Close Out. Utilizes historical project cost information and helps develop and maintain a construction cost database. Close out projects in a timely manner. Day-to-day management of Architects, Engineers, Consultants and, other vendors as applicable. Works closely with other BJC departments such as IT and Clinical Asset Management. Partners closely with Space Management Team. Maintains a typical project portfolio within a 2 year budget cycle includes consists of >20 active projects with cumulative budgets of $50M -$100M. Project locations will be at BJC Hospitals and off-site locations (no overnight travel or out of town assignments). This position falls under the category of an Owner’s-Representative model of project management.

Requirements

  • Required Bachelors in, Construction, Architecture, Engineering, Project Management, or related field.
  • Minimum 10 years of significant construction industry experience.
  • Expertise in project management processes and tools.
  • Excellent problem-solving, effective communication, leadership, and organizational skills.
  • Successful completion of complex project portfolio.
  • High proficiency of Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project, Outlook, One Note, SharePoint
  • Mid-level proficiency of Bluebeam
  • Mid-level proficiency of ProCore or other Project Management software
  • Bach Deg and/or Equivalent Exp
  • 5-10 years

Nice To Haves

  • Preferred Masters in Construction, Architecture, Engineering, Project Management, or related field.
  • Preferred PMP/CSM certification, OSHA 30 training, MOSHE & ASHE membership
  • Preferred 5 years of significant healthcare construction experience.
  • Preferred people management experience to mentor Project Manager and Project Engineers
  • Preferred proficiency of Projecto for Project Financial management software

Responsibilities

  • Lead team in defining project scope development, programming, planning, execution, delivery, and closing major projects, including new builds.
  • Manage the RFP process; including evaluation, and team selection. Coordinate efforts between architects, engineers, and construction managers as well as other direct contracted vendors.
  • Create and manage project budgets and schedules, adjusting as necessary meeting key milestone dates.
  • Proactive risk and issue management to identify, analyze, and mitigate potential risks and overcoming obstacles.
  • Effective stakeholder communication, facilitating difficult conversations to realign scope, schedule, budget up to the Executive level.
  • Quality control in ensuring deliverables meet standards. Coordination and documentation of training, commissioning, record drawings, specifications, and O&M’s.
  • Move management skills, coordination of owner direct vendors
  • Provides leadership to project teams in the development and implementation of an assigned project. Management of adherence to project functional and business requirements, timeline, dependencies, milestones and approvals. Provides consulting, problem solving, works closely and continuously with Hospital facilities management.
  • Ensures educational, compliance and regulatory requirements, and contract administration are met as they relate to technical performance. Champions minority and women business enterprise participation, supplier diversity, gains approval and enforces project diversity efforts with PD&C Diversity Manager. Ensures quality standards, and interim life, safety, and infection control initiatives requirements are met.
  • Successfully execute the completion and occupancy of several types of projects such as, but not limited to: in place renovations, infrastructure upgrades, new Medical Office Buildings & Ambulatory Centers, and radiology equipment replacements.
  • Performs and manages tasks and team members related to: project planning, execution, analysis and tracking. Change management. Team facilitation. Risk/issue identification and mitigation.
  • May manage individuals, including but not limited to: trains, mentors, assigns work and provides performance feedback to the Mgr. Adheres to revenue and/or expense budgets related to assigned projects. Responds to changes in the business which may affect the ability to achieve budget goals.
