About The Position

The Sr Project Engineer - Mechanical leads and manages the engineering team, driving continuous improvement efforts across various engineering disciplines. This role involves making critical decisions that significantly impact projects and engineering initiatives, performing high-level engineering analysis, design, validation, and troubleshooting of complex components for heavy-duty vehicles, and providing integration and execution support for vehicle and component design.

Requirements

  • Accredited Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related field.
  • Eight (8) or more years of related experience.

Nice To Haves

  • Accredited Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering.
  • Strong mechanical knowledge of automotive or heavy-vehicle equipment.
  • Experience with a high-level CAD system.
  • Background in design for manufacturability.
  • Experience in Finite Element Analysis.
  • Experience in cabin/cab development or component development.

Responsibilities

  • Manage an engineering team consisting of Engineers, Designers, and Technicians.
  • Plan, direct, and coordinate activities of the engineering team.
  • Provide coaching and development for the team through regular performance feedback and training opportunities.
  • Prepare and control department budget and forecast operating costs.
  • Collaborate and build relationships with internal and external customers.
  • Present and defend technical engineering decisions to leadership and external customers.
  • Ensure completion of complex projects on time and manage overall project schedule and budget.
  • Perform and check complex engineering calculations and tasks according to industry standards.
  • Research, create, and update standard engineering methodology and procedures.
  • Evaluate designs for performance, safety, and reliability.
  • Prepare complex technical proposals, quotations, reports, and presentations.
