About The Position

Martin/Martin, Inc. is looking for a senior-level engineer to join the Investigative Engineering Group in our Kansas City, MO office. This senior-level engineer will work with multiple project managers on a broad range of investigative project types. This position will focus on developing and managing engineering services for renovation, restoration, retrofit, and repair projects for existing structures. Work will include mentoring staff, business development, meeting with clients, developing reports, and producing engineering deliverables as defined by the particular project needs. Strong knowledge of building codes, construction standards and the ability to formulate appropriate conclusions to the conditions encountered during investigation are required skills. The successful candidate will be required to manage and oversee staff conducting field investigations, recommend testing programs, develop reports and repair documents, and perform construction administration services. Projects will necessitate a balance between in-office design time and on-site evaluation time. Our project locations will include throughout the region and can sometimes take us nationally, offering some opportunity to travel. The position will require interactions with clients, including building owners and contractors, along with opportunities for marketing and business development activities. About Martin/Martin, Inc. Our civil teams focus on site and infrastructure design including traffic/transportation, parking, street layout/lighting, water and wastewater utilities, stormwater drainage, circulation, paving, surveying, security issues, and other site considerations. Our investigative engineers can provide support for existing projects, both buildings and sites, to design and implement repairs, renovations, or improvements. With ten office locations and a staff of more than 370, Martin/Martin engineers regularly perform work across the United States, and internationally. A typical work week can include drawing development, project coordination, engineering calculations, Construction Administration tasks, site investigations, and participation at industry events. This position allows for interactions with owners, architects, and contractors as you build relationships throughout the project life cycle.

Requirements

  • Completed a minimum of 9 years progressive engineering experience
  • Demonstrates leadership abilities beneficial to the company’s future
  • Consistently meets established financial metrics
  • Move inside or outside the office and on non-ADA accessible construction sites
  • Remain stationary for long periods of time
  • Repetitive movement on tasks such as using a keyboard or mouse

Responsibilities

  • Assists in conceptual design.
  • Assists in fee determination and proposal preparation.
  • Establishes a QA/QC plan for each project.
  • Acts as a mentor for younger engineers and assists with their career development.
  • Attends project meetings and represents Martin/Martin, Inc. during design and construction.
  • Follows up on collection of account receivables.
