About the position

Since its start as the Google Self-Driving Car Project in 2009, Waymo has focused on building the Waymo Driver-The World's Most Experienced Driver-to improve access to mobility while saving thousands of lives now lost to traffic crashes. The Waymo Driver powers Waymo One, a fully autonomous ride-hailing service, and can also be applied to a range of vehicle platforms and product use cases. The Waymo Driver has provided over one million rider-only trips, enabled by its experience autonomously driving tens of millions of miles on public roads and tens of billions in simulation across 13+ U.S. states. The Digital Transformation team defines and builds the business IT architecture that supports the commercial operation of Waymo's autonomous fleet. The team stands at the intersection of finance, operations and IT; through creative architecture, expertise, it ensures that Waymo has world-class capabilities across all its business processes. In this hybrid role, you will report into our Head of Digital Transformation Services PMO.

Responsibilities

  • Lead Digital Transformation: Partner with Waymo's business and engineering leaders to define the vision for critical engineering programs. Promote platform adoption and lead its scale across multiple areas.
  • Improve Execution: Enhance planning, goal setting, and resource allocation processes. Find ways to boost team efficiency and effectively track progress.
  • Demonstrate Technical Depth: Develop a strong understanding of our technology stack, allowing you to contribute to design discussions and ensure solutions are scalable and reliable.
  • Build Relationships: Manage partner expectations and build trust with both partners and engineering teams.
  • Drive Efficient Processes: Improve teamwork, manage complexity, and increase velocity.

Requirements

  • BS in Computer Science or related field.
  • 5+ years experience as a Technical Program Manager at a technology company.
  • Experience with large-scale systems and architecture.
  • Familiarity with software development processes and working with platform engineers.
  • Extensive project management and execution experience.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience consulting on system architecture, scalability and reliability, and design trade-offs.
  • Experience engaging with Engineering teams on product & platform development.
