Properly, professionally and sensitively obtain and handle medical records by communicating and coordinating with patients, physician offices, hospitals and other medical organizations/personnel in order to create accurate and sufficiently comprehensive patient charts. Complete all transplant procedures by entering in accurate data into the patient's medical record, United Network Organ Sharing (UNOS) and department specific database. Communicate process improvement changes with required data for UNOS. Provide administrative support as necessary to all team members in clinic, surgical and procedural areas, as assigned.

Requirements

  • Minimum of two years of experience in a healthcare customer service environment.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum of two years post-secondary education with coursework in business, medical assistant program, or nursing assistant program, or equivalent combination of education/experience.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and judgement.
  • Ability to work in a team environment.
  • Demonstrated verbal and written customer relations skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with an interdisciplinary team.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology.
  • Demonstrated analytical, prioritizing, and organizational skills.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in a healthcare environment with knowledge of scheduling or healthcare record collection and registration systems.
  • Clinical background in assigned area.
  • Registered Nurse with Bachelor of Science in nursing (BSN).
  • Previous experience with data entry into an electronic health records program, such as EPIC.
  • Currently licensed medical assistant, patient care technician, or certified nursing assistant (CNA) certificate.

Responsibilities

  • Obtain and handle medical records by communicating and coordinating with patients and medical organizations.

  • Enter accurate data into the patient's medical record and UNOS database.
