About The Position

The Senior Professional Staff Nurse at UPMC Muncy is a full-time role focused on providing high-quality nursing care in the Same Day Services department. This position involves leadership, collaboration, and accountability in patient care, ensuring that standards of care are met while fostering a healing environment. The nurse will engage with patients, families, and healthcare teams to achieve optimal patient outcomes and will also play a key role in mentoring and developing other nursing staff.

Requirements

  • Minimum 2 years of nursing experience required.
  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred.
  • Current licensure as a Registered Professional Nurse in the state of practice or a state covered by a licensure compact agreement.
  • Ability to demonstrate knowledge and skills necessary to provide care for patients of various ages.
  • Exemplary clinical judgment with critical thinking, analytical, and problem-solving abilities required.
  • Ability to work productively in a complex environment and handle multiple priorities.

Nice To Haves

  • UPMC approved nursing certification preferred.
  • Master's degree in nursing or Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) may substitute for certification.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as a role model of professional nursing practice and recognized unit leader in clinical expertise, teaching, or evidence-based practice.
  • Promote changes that enhance the quality of patient care and the unit environment.
  • Demonstrate highly developed clinical assessment and analytical skills within the context of Relationship Based Care.
  • Formulate daily goals and a plan of care for patients, involving them as partners in their care.
  • Practice solid communication skills to articulate patient conditions and negotiate changes in care.
  • Document patient care comprehensively to promote communication between caregivers.
  • Demonstrate critical thinking in identifying clinical, social, safety, psychological, and spiritual issues for patients.
  • Create a caring and compassionate patient-focused experience by building healing relationships with patients, families, and colleagues.
  • Precept students, graduate nurses, and new hires, fostering their development.
  • Identify opportunities for clinical quality and workplace improvement, applying evidence-based practice.
  • Build and mend relationships among colleagues, role modeling cultural awareness and addressing workplace issues.
  • Maintain a balance between work and personal life through prioritization and delegation.
