We are in search of a visionary Lead Software Engineer to join as a founding member of our engineering team. This role is crucial in establishing the architectural foundation and leading the development of our product, all while embracing the Pivotal Labs framework to foster a culture of collaboration, rapid iteration, and user-centric design. About the Product and Tech Stack The product is a valuation review and workflow software solution designed to transform the UAD workflow and review solution to our prime lenders in valuation space. Created with the needs of appraisal review in mind helping lender users to make wise decisions as part of the valuation workflow process, these cutting-edge services and front-end modules leverages advanced technology to make appraisal review more thorough, efficient, and accurate. The solution contains couple of web applications using Angular technology with primary focus on user centric designs. It will have a microservice architecture running on Google Cloud Platform. REST and kafka event-based messaging gets used for interservice communication. Backend services will be written in Java and built using the SpringBoot framework. There is a potential use case for Redis for caching needs. Postgres/CloudSql are used for storing and querying data. The logging framework utilizes ELK stack with extensively built tooling and monitoring around ELK and application health metrics About the Career Valuation review microservice architecture solution is part of Valuation Technology unit which provides workflow and review solutions to several hundreds of low/midsize/large lender clients, The valuation services group within Cotality is responsible in executing well-defined roadmap to modernize the technology with innovative solutions with deep roots in agile software development The Lead Software Engineer will spearhead the development of our application, leveraging the Cotality Gen2 guidelines to ensure quality, scalability, and maintainability. This role combines deep technical expertise with a passion for Agile practices, mentoring, and a commitment to excellence.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience in software engineering
  • In-depth knowledge of microservices architecture, Google Cloud Platform, REST, and event-based messaging.
  • Proficiency in SpringBoot, Java, Redis, ElasticSearch, kafka and Postgres.
  • Solid experience with Jenkins and embracing CI/CD pipelines.
  • Demonstrated experience in leading Agile teams and implementing Agile frameworks
  • Excellent leadership, problem-solving, and communication skills.
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field.

Nice To Haves

  • Domain-specific industry experience in Real Estate, Insurance, Mortgage, Commercial or Residential Tax a plus
  • Leveraging AI techniques in improving the spped and efficient in software development

Responsibilities

  • Framework Implementation: Embrace Gen2 guidelines within the development process, including test-driven development (TDD), pair programming(as necessary), and continuous integration/continuous deployment (CI/CD) to ensure rapid, reliable, and efficient delivery of software.
  • Architecture Design & Development: Lead the creation and enhancing the microservices, focusing on scalability, performance, and security across web, mobile, tablet, and desktop platforms.
  • Microservices Management: Develop and manage a microservices architecture on the Google Cloud Platform, optimizing interservice communication through REST and event-based messaging.
  • Backend Engineering: Craft backend services using SpringBoot framework and Java, emphasizing clean, test-driven, and maintainable code.
  • Data Strategy: Implement Redis for caching, alongside ElasticSearch and Postgres for robust data storage and querying capabilities.
  • CI/CD Mastery: Utilize Jenkins for CI/CD, aligning with Pivotal's practices for continuous development and deployment.
  • Agile Leadership: Lead the engineering team with a focus on Agile methodologies, fostering an environment of collaboration, innovation, and continuous improvement.
  • Strategic Collaboration: Work closely with product management and stakeholders to define technical specifications, prioritize features, and guide the product's strategic direction in line with user needs and business goals.
