About The Position

The Sr. Production Planner for the Starship Heat Shield at SpaceX is responsible for developing production and execution plans for the manufacturing of Starship Heat Shield Tiles. This role involves collaboration across various departments to ensure alignment with production schedules, mitigate risks, and improve operational efficiency in a fast-paced environment.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of manufacturing scheduling experience

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor's degree in industrial engineering or other technical discipline
  • Understanding of manufacturing systems and production control
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel
  • Experience writing queries with SQL
  • PowerBi/Tableau experience for dashboards and reports
  • Familiarity with lean principles, Six Sigma, and continuous improvement concepts
  • Experience with data analytics
  • Experience with problem-solving and root-cause analysis methodologies

Responsibilities

  • Work across all departments to understand critical work requests ahead and behind targets to mitigate schedule impact risks
  • Ensure production plans are aligned with MRP dates
  • Utilize ERP application and other tools to ensure accurate scheduling and resource allocation
  • Prepare daily work schedules, track progress, and communicate project critical path schedules
  • Align with operations team to improve plan adherence and address bottlenecks
  • Support the execution of tests and introduction of new technologies
  • Ensure accuracy of internal logistics for critical work
  • Push/pull work into the shop to improve lead times and meet schedule needs
  • Eliminate internal and external blockers to deliver product on time
  • Lead efforts to uncover root causes and develop permanent resolutions for manufacturing issues
  • Streamline processes between production and planning
  • Connect the plan with shop floor management and establish visual management tools
  • Organize and communicate daily priorities to production coordinators and supervisors
  • Provide visibility, status updates, and reviews on schedule performance
  • Create metrics using SQL and Excel to highlight schedule risks and opportunities
  • Lead weekly production plan reviews with operations and engineering
