The Sr Product Manager for Core Products at Instructure is responsible for driving the product strategy and execution for learning evaluation features within the Canvas LMS. This role focuses on enhancing student success and teaching effectiveness through innovative product development, requiring a blend of analytical skills, user empathy, and collaboration across various teams.

  • Generate vision, goals, and opportunity assessments for product ownership.
  • Prioritize short-term incremental opportunities while pursuing long-term strategic initiatives.
  • Base decisions on evidence and insights to inform product strategy.
  • Write effective user stories and acceptance criteria for the development team.
  • Create compelling stories that contextualize and humanize the problem to solve.
  • Partner with the analytics team to leverage data insights for product strategy.
  • Identify and document requirements from customers, prospects, and internal teams.
  • Organize and prioritize work for predictable releases.
  • Collaborate with Program Management, Design, and Engineering to deliver enhancements.
  • Work with other product teams to ensure consistent user experiences.
  • Engage with cross-functional teams to understand customer experiences and inform opportunities.
  • Support go-to-market plans in collaboration with marketing and sales.
  • Mentor other product team members and provide up-skilling opportunities.
  • Minimum of 5-6 years of experience in product management.
  • Strong analytical skills to leverage data for product decisions.
  • Proven ability to create a vision and deliver on plans.
  • Deep user empathy and experience in building user-centered products.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Experience with rapid experimentation to accelerate learning and iteration.
  • Ability to influence and align different teams to execute the roadmap.
