Part of Moog’s Space and Defense Group, the Engines Business Unit in Niagara Falls, NY supplies rocket engines, propellant tanks, and complete propulsion systems for a variety of spacecraft, launch vehicle, and strategic defense missions within the aerospace industry. In order to meet the exciting challenges associated with growth in the industry, we are in search of talented individuals with a passion for space to join our growing team! We are seeking an experienced Senior Product Engineer to support our space propulsion hardware business as part of the technical team on recurring production programs as well as new design and development efforts. The successful candidate will work as part of the project team in pursuit of successful project execution. Working jointly with the project engineer, the product engineer shares responsibility for technical execution of development and production programs. The product engineer will report directly to the Project Engineering Manager. While this position will be based primarily out of the Niagara Falls site, travel between Niagara Falls and East Aurora facilities may also be required depending on the needs of individual programs.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical/Aerospace Engineering (or comparable field)
  • A minimum of five (5) years of related experience, eight (8) years preferred.
  • Proven experience and ability to write detailed work instructions.
  • Ability to work independently with a strong technical foundation.
  • Demonstrated communication skills and ability to coordinate with manufacturing, assembly, and test teammates.
  • Self-starting instincts and a strong sense of project ownership with a proven track record of successful completion of projects.
  • Ability to work onsite in Western New York (WNY), primarily out of Niagara Falls.
  • This position requires a full physical which includes bloodwork and pulmonary function testing.
  • Ability to obtain a U.S. DoD Secret Security Clearance.

Responsibilities

  • Provide assembly/test instructions, training, and monitoring to maintain production.
  • Assure and maintain design integrity, producibility, and quality in development and production products.
  • Develop and improve tools, fixtures, and test equipment.
  • Assess non-conformances or technical issues that occur during assembly and test.
  • Lead RCCA analyses that ensure long-term solutions to precent recurring problems.
  • Participate in customer presentations or technical review meetings
  • Coordinate with multiple departments to eliminate roadblocks and ensure on-time delivery of hardware.
  • Participate in hands-on prototyping of new products
  • Mentor and coach other product engineers within the group
