About The Position

At Omnicell, we are on a mission to revolutionize the health tech industry, defining the vision of the Autonomous Pharmacy. We are looking for an exceptional Senior Product Designer, Design Systems to join our team. This is an opportunity to be part of a passionate group of highly motivated designers who are dedicated to transforming healthcare through innovative design. In this pivotal role, you will become the primary architect of the scalable foundation that powers the entire Omnicell ecosystem. You will play a critical role in building and maintaining our design system, ensuring consistency and scalability across a complex product suite that ranges from mobile apps and cloud-based intelligence dashboards (Omni Sphere) to hardware-integrated touch interfaces for our Automated Dispensing Cabinets (Titan XT). You will be responsible for creating and managing design tokens, defining reusable components, and authoring comprehensive usage guidelines. As the bridge between Design and Engineering, you will collaborate closely with front-end developers to ensure seamless implementation, driving efficiency and visual consistency. Beyond the technical architecture, you will mentor and inspire other designers, fostering a culture of creativity and collaboration. Join us on this exciting journey where your expertise will make a tangible difference in the lives of healthcare professionals and patients alike.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of Product Design experience, with at least 2 years dedicated specifically to Design Systems .
  • A portfolio demonstrating your design system experience.
  • Figma Mastery: You are an expert in the deep end of Figma. You dream in component properties, nested instances, complex auto-layouts, variables, and advanced interactive prototyping.
  • Front-End Fluency: You have a working knowledge of modern front-end frameworks (we use Angular) and component and token architecture. You understand how your designs translate to code.
  • Code Literacy: Strong understanding of CSS/Sass, semantic HTML, and the technical constraints of web development.
  • Hardware/Input Diversity: Proven experience designing for a range of input modalities and screen sizes.
  • Accessibility: Knowledgeable about WCAG guidelines and how to implement them at a systemic level.
  • Mentorship: A willingness to teach others and elevate the technical skills of the design team.
  • System Thinking: The ability to see the forest and the trees. You understand how a change to a button affects a kiosk UI five levels deep.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience committing code.
  • Experience in healthcare, enterprise software, or "safety critical" environments.
  • Familiarity with hardware-software integration (ex. Kiosks, wearables).

Responsibilities

  • System Architecture & Library Management: Own the Master Library: Serve as the point-person for the centralized Figma library, ensuring strict organization and logical naming conventions.
  • Token Strategy: Architect and manage a sophisticated system of design tokens and variables, ensuring seamless translation from design to code.
  • Cross-Platform Patterns: Create and evolve components that scale gracefully across our unique hardware ecosystem. You will solve complex UI challenges, ensuring patterns work equally well for desktop, touch interfaces, and screen sizes ranges from mobile to large-format displays/kiosks.
  • Documentation & Governance: Comprehensive Guidelines: Author documentation that goes beyond "how to build it." You will define when and why to use specific patterns, establishing clear usage guidelines that support patient safety and workflow efficiency.
  • Accessibility First: Bake WCAG principles into every component you build, ensuringsemantic HTML structure and proper contrast/sizing—critical for our users in diverse hospitallighting conditions.
  • Design Operations & Mentorship: Figma Evangelism: Act as the internal "Figma Wizard." Mentor the wider design team on advanced features (Ex. Auto Layout, Variable Modes, Prototyping) and best practices for file organization.
  • Contribution Model: Define and lead the process for how other designers contribute new patterns to the system.
  • The Design-Engineering Bridge: System Compliance & QA: Act as the final quality gate before development. You will review design artifacts from the team to ensure strict adherence to system standards, correct component usage, and proper token implementation, ensuring files are "dev-ready" and compliant.
  • Technical Translation: Speak the language of developers. Use your knowledge of front-end development to make process improvements that reduce friction and speed up implementation.
